What considerations should guide my desk selection for a home office?
When choosing a desk for your home office, keep these factors in mind:
- Size and Space: Measure your available area to ensure the desk fits comfortably without overcrowding.
- Functionality: Decide if you need a simple writing desk, a computer desk, or a multi-functional workstation.
- Storage Options: Look for desks with built-in drawers or shelves to keep your workspace organized.
- Style and Design: Select a desk that complements your home decor and personal style.
- Material: Consider durability and maintenance; common options include wood, metal, and laminate.
Choosing the right desk can enhance both productivity and the overall look of your workspace.

These practices can help keep your office furniture looking great and functioning effectively for years.

What is the best (reasonably priced) office chair?
Herman Millers kick ass. Aeron may be slightly overrated, but not by much. I certainly have friends who swear by them, but you're looking at close to $600 to get into one.
Costco had some Equa 2 (I think?) Herman Millers in my local warehouse last year and since my last office had been using some variant of them for years I knew they were durable and comfortable and got one for myself for about $300, IIRC.
