Keyboard Pianos & Digital Pianos | Best Buy Canada
It sounds and feels just like a real piano, but is considerably lighter and has no strings. If you’re just starting to learn, but don’t have the budget or space for a baby grand, a digital piano could be a great choice for you. An electronic keyboard can do a lot more than your average piano.

I am looking to get a cheap Casio keyboard. I looked at the CT S200, which is 100 USD/ 150 CAD. Is there a better one that is cheaper, or is the S200 my best bet? (I want to learn to play piano)
I just started playing and I picked up a Casio ctk-2500 about a month ago and I loved it for the first few weeks, but I feel I’m already seeing its limitations, and want something better. 2 major things I don’t like are the non touch sensitive keys, and non weighted keys. The first is the worst to me personally because there’s no dynamics in my playing. It’s key=sound and no light or heavy playing. It was fine when I was learning scales and one note poking around, but I can’t play chords and accent a note. Combine that with kinda crappy speakers, and a low end sound bank, and high and low notes get lost in the mix real easy. Personally, I’d look at a midi controller if you want to do edm, you can use your computer for a lot of the sound side of it. I’m looking at digital pianos in the 4-500 range now. I think that’s what wills get me a year or two more into playing. I don’t know how much this helped, like I said I’ve only been playing a little over a month, but I bought the $110 target keyboard to get my feet wet, and a month later I’m ready to upgrade already, so take that for what it is More on reddit.com
Looking to buy a cheap secondary keyboard (under the recommended $500)
Stalk your local craigslist. Any keyboard that looks interesting, google it. If it has weighted keys and meets any other requirement you have, ask to go try it out. Most likely find would be a Casio cdp, Casio PX, or Yamaha P series. Wikipedia lists a lot of old models, you can find information on them on the manufacturer's website and old threads places like here or pianoworld.com. Less likely but possible would be a weighted board from other companies like Roland, Kawai, Korg, etc... Buying new, low end your best bet is Yamaha p45/p71, Casio cdp130, casio px160. You can keep an eye on music sites, zzounds, erpiano, guitar center, musiciansfriend, musicarts, wwbw, sam ash, amazon etc...They have sales, some give out coupons. Casio cdp130 has sold for $250, Yamaha p45/p71 has sold for $300, casio px160 has sold for $400. Less is possible. Some deals will get listed on sites like slickdeals.net Some of those retailers sell used/open box/blemished units. On ebay you can look for parts or repair listings. Sometimes what's broken won't be a problem for you. Might be a good idea to go to a music store and try out some low end digital pianos, see if they'll be good enough for you. Your price range, or at least a bit above it, is doable. But not really on demand. It's the sort of thing you'll have to be patient with. More on reddit.com

Recommended affordable digital pianos/keyboards for beginners?
I'll narrow it down You don't need weighted keys, you don't need an 88 key. And under 300$ I don't know many Piano's/Keyboards but I do know of this cheap a** brand called Ringway. The current one I'm using looks like a discontinued model probably, can't find it online anywhere. And you probably shouldn't buy it. but it works pretty well for classical, minus the terrible dynamic range. It has lasted ever since I started piano 7 years ago. Try looking at this brand, although they have inconsistent speaker quality. The most expensive one I saw was 25,000 PHP or around 500$. I don't recommend it, good feel but bad speakers, has 88 keys. And the one I'm using is 15,000 PHP or 300$ good speakers but terrible feel. But don't use this, use what other people recommend. I'm just giving some options. P.S Ringway is only good if you are short on cash, the 300$ one has 76 keys. More on reddit.com

Best Beginner Digital Pianos Under $500 (Feb. 2025)
May 21, 2025 - I’d go for the Yamaha, if piano is your focus. ... Thanks for all the info. I like the idea of the lesson function on the CDP 240/235. Follow along the LCD to learn to play songs. I am having trouble finding one of these in my area. Are there other keyboards that have the same or similar function? Thanks ... There are a lot of cheaper Casio and Yamaha keyboards that have similar lesson features, but they usually have 61 semi-weighted keys and, in my opinion, are not the best choice for piano players.
