Sounds like you want exactly what I just got. For $750 you can get the Lenovo LOQ which has a 4050, which is basically the best graphic card you can get for a 1080p screen in a laptop. I don't want to make the jump to QHD because I wanted to smash those frame rates. This'll do it. https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/loq-laptops/lenovo-loq-15ahp9/83dx0004us?orgRef=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F&cid=us:sem|se|google|pmax_consumer_mainstream|||83DX0004US|18337002434|||shopping|mix|consumer&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw9p24BhB_EiwA8ID5BsQOfbVciUmsU4VyDoUWdlNgz0pg2PosLil2LImy6bA_Yg5BdjiNMhoC9O0QAvD_BwE It was $750 at Micro Center so have a look around. r/GamingLaptops on Reddit: What are the best gaming laptops that are affordable.
July 17, 2025 -

Hey everyone! I’m looking to buy a laptop that I’ll use mainly for programming, university work, and some gaming. So far, I’ve been considering options like the Lenovo LOQ.

From what I’ve gathered, I should be aiming for at least 16GB DDR5 RAM, SSD storage, and a 144Hz display. For the GPU, I’m looking at something like the RTX 4050 or better.

I don’t game heavily, and when I do, it’s usually on less demanding titles—but I’d still like the option to play more intensive games like The Witcher or God of War if I ever feel like it.

Are there any important specs I might be overlooking? Any good value recommendations around this performance tier would be appreciated!

r/SuggestALaptop on Reddit: Cheap Gaming Laptop $300 and under - USA
March 18, 2025 -

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: -Max $300 US dollars

Are you open to refurbs/used? -Yes

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? -I don’t care as much about picture quality clarity, but want it to be able to run Steam games. I love playing horror games like Little Nightmares and Five Nights At Freddie’s and Resident Evil 4 and want the opportunity to tr more Indie horror games that are not on the Switch and PlayStation.

How important is weight and thinness to you? -I don’t care either way about weight and thinness.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. -Bigger is better, if possible, maybe 14 inches would be good, if feasible.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. -I will be running Steam and playing random Indie games and horror games like Broken Veil, One Way Home, Reanimal, Little Nightmares 3, and Out of Sight. Preferably a laptop that I can hook up a controller to, like a Play Station controller would be nice.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? -I listed some games above, and don’t mind picture quality too much, as long as it runs smoothly (no lagging, if possible) and doesn’t look super pixely.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? -Not really.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. -I was looking into HP 14 Premium HD Portable Laptop Computer Students Business, Quad-Core Intel Celeron Processor, 16GB RAM, 256GB Storage(128GB eMMC+ 128GB Ghost Manta SD Card), 1 Year Office 365, HDMI, Win 11. This is exactly what it’s titled as on Amazon and it’s $299 US dollars. I read on another page that this could be a good cheap laptop for gaming and wanted to get suggestions and opinions from someone who knows more about computers than I do since I’ve bought quite a few lemons in the past when it comes to laptops and am wary about buying one due to this.

Thank you so much for any assistance anyone can give me, I appreciate it! And yes, I know this is a small amount of money for a laptop, I’m sorry! But due to medical bills, right now this is all I can afford. Thank you!

PS: If possible, please, no Chromebooks, they drive me a bit crazy haha!

r/GamingLaptops on Reddit: Best Budget Gaming Laptop — Need Recommendations
June 2, 2025 -

I’m looking for the best budget gaming laptop that can handle 1080p gaming without sounding like a jet engine. Priorities are value, thermals, and an upgrade path.

Use Case

  • Games: Valorant/CS2/Apex, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, Starfield

  • Target: 90–144 FPS in esports; 50–70 FPS in AAA on High settings

  • Also: School/work tasks, light photo/video edits, lots of Chrome tabs

Budget & Region

  • Budget: Under $900–$1,100 (flexible if it’s a big jump in quality)

  • Region: [Add your country or stores you can buy from]

Must-Haves

  • GPU: RTX 4050 or RX 7600S (open to RTX 4060 if the deal is great)

  • CPU: Recent Intel/AMD (no hard preference)

  • Display: 15–16", 1080p, 144Hz preferred with decent response times

  • Memory/Storage: 16GB (or easy upgrade to 32GB), 512GB SSD minimum, dual M.2 if possible

  • Thermals: Minimal throttling under sustained load

  • Build: Solid hinges/keyboard, acceptable fan noise in Balanced mode

Nice-to-Haves

  • MUX/Advanced Optimus, VRR (G-Sync/FreeSync)

  • USB-C charging (if supported), decent speakers, Wi-Fi 6E

  • Serviceable bottom panel for easy RAM/SSD upgrades

Dealbreakers

  • Locked RAM/SSD, severe coil whine, mushy keyboards, screens with heavy ghosting

Considering (but open to all)

  • Lenovo LOQ / IdeaPad Gaming

  • HP Victus

  • Acer Nitro V / Helios Neo (base configs)

  • ASUS TUF A15 / G15

What would you pick and why? Real-world temps, noise levels, battery life during light use, and any models to avoid would be super helpful. If you’ve tweaked fan curves/undervolt or upgraded RAM/SSD, I’d love to hear your results too.

I love travelling with my deck, but there's sometimes I need to travel light. I always need a laptop for work, but my Macbook won't cut it for gaming. I'm looking not to break the bank since this isn't going to be a primary use PC.

Can anyone suggest a gaming laptop that can perform at least similarly as the Steam Deck on games like Helldivers 2 or Marvel Rivals? Thanks in advance.

r/GamingLaptops on Reddit: Are budget gaming laptops more cost effective than building a budget gaming PC?
February 26, 2024 -

Everyone says building a PC is more cost effective than a gaming laptop, but there is no way in hell you can get RTX 4060, 4050 and even a fricking 3050 for less than a thousand dollars (will probably be around $1,500) while you can get those graphics cards along with everything else for like $700 with a laptop. Using pcpartbuilder I have to settle with an i3 and a GTX 1650 for $800 while I know laptops with RTX 40 series for that price. I just don’t get it. Price and portability (I don’t have a desk in my room = no tower, and furniture = money) are the reasons why I buy gaming laptops instead of PCs.

For low to mid range gaming laptops, they cost about the same or slightly less than similarly configured gaming desktops. You can get a solid gaming laptop with an RTX 4060 for under $900. You can even get an RTX 4070 laptop for under$1k(though the laptop 4070 is slower than the desktop 4070). It would be very difficult to build or buy a comparable gaming desktop plus a monitor with those specs for a lower price. Now, for high end gaming(desktop 4070+, laptop 4080+), desktops win on price and performance. Laptop references for the prices I mentioned: https://www.microcenter.com/product/676228/asus-tuf-156-fx507zi-f15i74070-gaming-laptop-computer-mecha-grey https://www.ebay.com/itm/126112806945 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-legion-slim-5-16-gaming-laptop-wuxga-ryzen-5-7640hs-with-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4060-8gb-512gb-ssd-storm-grey/6534469.p https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1762299-REG/asus_k3605vv_bb74_16_vivobook_notebook_i7_13700h.html Gaming desktops(without monitors): https://www.costco.com/.product.4000202717.html https://www.newegg.com/abs-za13400f4060-zyklon-aqua/p/N82E16883360482 Comparable monitors: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B5VY6ZFC https://www.ebay.com/itm/305256034346 https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/cty/apd/210-bhxc I will say desktops win on upgradeability; you can add more RAM than laptops support, you can add more storage(SSDs and hard drives), and you can upgrade the CPU and GPU. Overclocking also works better for most desktops.

the real value is at 4080 and 4090 laptops that have now started to go on discount, imo With a 4080 laptop, you get the power of a 4060-4070 desktop, and the portability of a laptop. And some of them have been going on discount lately. I bagged a 4080 max TDP laptop for 1999 CAD (less than 1500 USD) recently.

r/GamingLaptops on Reddit: What's the best cheap gaming laptop on Black Friday?
September 29, 2025 -

I'm upgrading on my Acer Nitro 5 with a GTX 1050 and i5-8300h. All of these will be major updates, but I'm looking for the best deal. My budget is around 800 €. I'm looking to play all kinds of games, AAA too, but I'm happy as long as I can get stable FPS with low-medium settings. I'm also looking to do video editing (Davinci Resolve) and music creation, so the processor is quite important as well.

Here are the options in my current preferred order (all have 16 GB of RAM and 512 SSD):

  1. Asus V16 RTX 5050 Core 5 210H for 800 € (normally 1200 €)

  2. Acer Nitro V 15 RTX 5060 i5-13420H for 800 € (normally 1180 €|)

  3. Asus V16 RTX 4050 Core 5 210H for 750 € (normally 1200 €), sale ending soon

The Asus V16 RTX 5050 edges it for me currently, as I think it has the slightly better processor over the Nitro V. It has a slightly worse graphics card.

Your opinions will be truly valuable, as I don't have experience with these laptops and components. These are Finnish offers, so if anyone happens to know better ones, let me know!

If none of these are worth it, I'm possibly willing to go up to a 1000 €.

r/GamingLaptops on Reddit: These are the most affordable gaming laptops I was able to find, are these a good deal?
October 18, 2024 -

So, after researching for a few hours I found these two laptops on sale in my closest best buy, and I wanted to know if these are good deals, or too good to be true. I have a very limited budget and I was looking for an affordable laptop that isn't too expensive and that has a graphics card.

The maximum amount of money I'm considering to spend is 700 dollars, but I would strongly prefer a laptop for a bit less. If the laptop is reeeally good for 700 dollars then of course, it would be just fine.

Are open box versions of these laptops worth the cheaper price?

Any suggestions are very much appreciated :)

I’ve been eyeing this Lenovo LOQ (83DV00E8PH) deal and need some advice before pulling the trigger. Specs look solid for the price:

•	i5-13450HX
•	RTX 4050 6GB
•	16GB DDR5 (8GB free upgrade)
•	512GB SSD Gen 4
•	15.6” FHD 144Hz IPS
•	Price: ₱53,999 (~$950) with some freebies

It seems like a good budget gaming laptop, but I’ve read about possible motherboard issues with some LOQ models, and that’s making me hesitate. Is this something I should worry about long-term?

Would you say this is the best value laptop at this price point right now, or is there something better I should be looking at?

Appreciate any feedback or experiences with this model!

r/lowendgaming on Reddit: Best cheapest gaming laptop that is also somewhat powerful?
February 5, 2025 -

So I am interested in buying a laptop. Now I mostly play on console and steam deck as PC gaming isn't really my thing. I decided to get a cheap laptop for games that aren't on consoles but also don't play well on Steam Deck either because of controls (Old games or PC control centric ones like Sims or Fallout 1/2) or games that don't work well with Linux.

I however want to keep my laptop future proof as in not a complete potato in case I need extra beef for whatever reason?

What should a PC gaming noob look into when buying a laptop for gaming? What models should I avoid? What models are good? Right now I am currently looking at Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 as it's cheap and powerful but the reviews are divided mostly related to build quality.

Thank you in advance!
