Has anyone else been running into this with Claude Code Max x5 ($100 plan)?
I keep getting:
API Error: 500
{"type":"error","error":{"type":"api_error","message":"Overloaded"},"request_id":null}This usually pops up when I’m working in Claude Code and trying to run requests. For something that costs $100/month, I didn’t expect “overloaded” errors like this.
Is this happening to others?
Is it a temporary Anthropic server capacity issue?
Or am I hitting some hidden rate limit even though I’m on the Max x5 plan?
Would appreciate any insights or workarounds from people who’ve faced this. Thanks!
Guys, I'm sorry if this shouldnt go here but I dont really know what to do, I bought claude pro 2 days ago just to test artifacts that interact with the Claude.ai internal api and it just doesnt works, artifacts all return empty json errors and claude sonnet says the api is returning a 500 error, havent even been able to test artifacts, all status reports say everything is running, the connector and functions for artifacts its enabled, is this expected behaivour?, its with the window.claude.complete() api

I'm getting the following error when making an API call:
API Error: 500 {"type":"error","error":{"type":"api_error","message":"Internal server error"},"request_id":"req_011CVF5U5Qc7DhyDdJW4RVeU"}
Anyone know what might be causing this? How can I resolve it?
Every request I make now thinks for a few seconds and then returns
API Error: 500 {"type":"error","error":{"type":"api_error","message":"Internal server error"}}
Is Claude down or is it just me? How do I fix it?
Hey guys, I've been getting a lot of errors lately when working with the API. Mainly I get [500] Internal server error and [529] Overloaded. Does anybody encounter the same, does anybody have any suggestions for a fix or are the servers just that unstable? Unfortunately this is not allowing me to work at all.
It's time for the daily overloaded status.
I asked Claude Code with a request to move a file from one folder to another taking into account changes in references and component names, and I get alternately:
API Error: Claude Code is unable to respond to this request, which appears to violate our Usage Policy (https://www.anthropic.com/legal/aup). Please double press esc to edit your last message or start a new session for Claude Code to assist with a different tas
or
API Error: 500 {"type":"error","error":{"type":"api_error","message":"Overloaded"}, "request_id":null}
status says Claude is available.
Prompt:
"using agent-planner ultrathink on moving component from path1 to current local path2 but make it more global for all use-cases, use subagents for work delegation"

Latest Performance and Bugs with Workarounds Report: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1nmkdau/claude_performance_and_bug_report_with/
Full record of past Megathreads and Reports : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/wiki/megathreads/
Why a Performance and Bugs Discussion Megathread?
This Megathread should make it easier for everyone to see what others are experiencing at any time by collecting all experiences. Most importantly, this will allow the subreddit to provide you a comprehensive periodic AI-generated summary report of all performance issues and experiences, maximally informative to everybody. See the previous period's performance and workarounds report here https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1nmkdau/claude_performance_and_bug_report_with/
It will also free up space on the main feed to make more visible the interesting insights and constructions of those using Claude productively.
What Can I Post on this Megathread?
Use this thread to voice all your experiences (positive and negative) as well as observations regarding the current performance of Claude. This includes any discussion, questions, experiences and speculations of quota, limits, context window size, downtime, price, subscription issues, general gripes, why you are quitting, Anthropic's motives, and comparative performance with other competitors.
So What are the Rules For Contributing Here?
All the same as for the main feed (especially keep the discussion on the technology)
Give evidence of your performance issues and experiences wherever relevant. Include prompts and responses, platform you used, time it occurred. In other words, be helpful to others.
The AI performance analysis will ignore comments that don't appear credible to it or are too vague.
All other subreddit rules apply.
Do I Have to Post All Performance Issues Here and Not in the Main Feed?
Yes. This helps us track performance issues, workarounds and sentiment and keeps the feed free from event-related post floods.
Since a couple of hours, with every second request/prompt, i see this:
⎿ API Error: 500 {"type":"error","error":{"type":"api_error","message":"Overloaded"},"request_id":null}
I remember that Anthropic announced to change their pricing at 28 August (which is today) on how they count tokens and how they want to reset it... Does it have something to do with that?
If so, I can tell you it is almost worthless for the Max 200x plan.
I have had three days running now of constant Claude Code API errors:
Everything starts up fine
I start working
Some random operation hangs because of a “poor API connection”
Goes through multiple retries/timeouts
Sometimes it works, most of the time it fails permanently after the 10th retry.
I’ve spun up Opus to do in-depth research on the issue — it found that there are widespread constant complaints about API connection errors, but while everyone seems convinced that it’s a Claude server issue, Claude AI and support insist there’s something wrong with my machine.
I have:
Entirely reconfigured my WSL local stack based on AI recommendations
Checked and validated my Node install
Added inbound/outbound rules to my firewall
GOT FIBER INSTALLED YESTERDAY
Nothing. Same problems, same willingness to consume tokens without actually delivering any results.
I’m on the full-freight “Max” plan, and apparently well-within my usage limits, but I’ve gotten absolutely zero support on this issue.
I’ve filed a GitHub issue, and was told the problem was probably my machine ( https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/10444 )
I’ve talked to the AI support bot, who assured me a human tech would reach out several hours ago — no sign
I am throwing myself on the mercy of other Redditors to at least confirm (a) it’s not just me, and/or (b) maybe find the support that my $200/month apparently does not provide.
