Been seeing more and more OpenAI users raving about how much it blows GPT4 out of the water, and considering how hit or miss it’s been lately……I may finally be considering converting lol
But could someone please just…..break down what’s going on in the document that details the setup process? Maybe I’m just a dumbass but the only reason I haven’t converted yet is because it always looks SO overwhelming with all the walls of text and the code, and I end up just not even worrying about it. And I know it isn’t actually that difficult. So a breakdown of how I can get it up and running would be appreciated!
Edit: Wow I lowkey forgot about this post, I'm reminded of it because I keep getting comments occasionally just as confused as I was. For everyone who helped at the time, thank you!! I've since become a DS girlie like a lot of us, but I'll still leave this up for the memories lol

register on Anthropic, create api key there. go to colab page and click every play button you can find. scroll down and wait for it to give you blue link copy blue link and use it on janitor as openai reverse proxy

I asked this on another post but so far no aswer: Is cloud something you have to pay for? I used it once on Poe ai, it does some real good shit even with the filter the website has it on, it's easy ti break just annoying. It would be nice to get it to use it on Janitor. Also I'm asking because poe has GPT bots that you can use with limited messages a day (atleast last time I used it it was like this) Edit; never mind I went to check the site out and it's not avaliable to my reigion, time to pull the VPN (and aperantly they have a free plan?)

No, API keys are completely separate from Janitor. You have to get them from a separate website. The most popular ones are Open AI and Claude and I believe Cobold (could be spelling that one wrong). Idk Cobold but for Open AI to get an API key you go to openai.com and then make an account, add some money and get an API key. All API keys will cost money, none of them are free that I know of. Claude (I highly recommend Claude, it's better and more fun than Open AI and also way cheaper- especially Haiku) you go to console.anthropic.com and do pretty much the same to get an API key then you go to this site https://colab.research.google.com/drive/1OYj_IUCu5Wc8T3Wtxnf0iRul17CPEF4K and follow the instructions to get a reverse proxy. Make sure to read the instructions thoroughly and to leave the tab open and the player playing (it will make sense if you click the link and see). Hibikiass is amazing and the creator of that sheet and they will answer a lot of questions about Claude. Pros: Open AI can be more stable at times and is easier to navigate. Claude has more human like responses and is more engaging then Open AI. Claude is much cheaper then Open AI. $5 USD goes a long way on Claude, especially for the Haiku model. Cons: Open AI can and will cost you a small fortune if you use Janitor often. Some people spend over $100 a month on Open AI for their API keys. Its no joke about how expensive it is and even if you roleplay for a few hours it can cost you $20-$30 sometimes. Claude can be difficult to learn and understand, if you read HibikiAss's instructions throughly they will explain a lot of it, but it can still be hard to learn.

You have to make an OpenApi account not chatgpt account. The only LLM with a flat monthly rate for API that I’m aware of is the club venus ‘Mars’ and other one. If you wanna use gpt4 youll pay per token used (what gets ya is the context tokens) and it racks up quick.
