Error code ''00'' (sometimes)
And the 00 code with no signal, no post happens like 2/10 times when I turn on my pc. So most of the time it will boot normal. Also never heaving any issues while using the pc. Never got an error during usage, even left the pc on the whole night for rendering a long video, no problems at all. More on forums.tomshardware.com

Asus Motherboard shows Code-00 (No POST a lot of times)(MB: Maximus vii Hero Z97)
Could be a problem with the chipset/memory controller, a single CPU pin having a slight bend in it, socket on the motherboard having an imperfection, but the list goes on and on with what could be causing it. Fairly commonly the double 0 code means failed/dead CPU and without the knowledge that ASUS has in terms of board schematics and pin outs it’s really a shot in the dark. Get a motherboard, test it out and if works, you know that was the problem, if it still does it, return the motherboard and you’re onto your next step, changing the CPU. But you could get a Xeon E3-1286 which was a 700 dollar processor at launch for about 20 dollars on eBay. 4 cores 8 threads, 3.7 ghz base, boost up to 4.1 ghz but the TDP is north of 80, not bad for about 20 dollars though More on reddit.com

[SOLVED] - Computer not going to post and code 00 with red light for CPU on motherboard | Tom's Hardware Forum
December 27, 2021 - Many boards not getting past 00 code cpu on post mean a toasted motherboard. Since it was working prior, bios won't be the issue, that won't change enough without hitting very specific changes to prevent post. Gpu wouldn't be the issue or you'd get a different code and the led would stop at vga.

[SOLVED] - New build won't post. "Code 00 ... memory" error on motherboard. | Tom's Hardware Forum
February 16, 2021 - On one hand multiple people have said that this error means it's related to the CPU but on the other hand the chance that I didn't get an actual brand new CPU somehow are small as everything was sealed and the error specifies ''Memory" not "CPU". On one hand when I recieved my motherboard marked as brand new from a famous retailer it wasn't actually sealed for some reason, and some people said that the "code 00" error could be the motherboard that has issues with capacitors or something, but on the other hand I think they were talking about the older zenith model and I got this motherboard from a reputable retailer as ''brand new'', and everything inside was sealed however.

October 25, 2016 - I don't think you have a hardware issue but can't rule that out 100%. Do any of the MB LEDs light up on the MB when it fails to post.? This will narrow the issue down. You have 4 LEDs for troubleshooting. Boot device_LED, VGA_LED, Dram_LED and CPU_LED. Page 126 of your MB manual. they all have different colors. If QCode 00 happens again, see if one of those lights up and stays on. It could just require a slight increase to system agent voltage or boot up voltage. ... Thankyou for replying! I will try and pay attention to it. I tried to force the error be turning the pc completely off, and booting it up again many times.

r/ASUS on Reddit: Asus Motherboard shows Code-00 (No POST a lot of times)(MB: Maximus vii Hero Z97)
January 22, 2020 -

Hello, For nearly a year I've been receiving error code "00" on my Asus motherboard. No POST happens a lot of times but after turning it off and on for a couple of times(Sometimes just leaving it off for a few hours and then turning it on again) it will again continue to work normally. During the time when "No POST" happens, I've tried removing RAM sticks and I received the same code.

I've also taken my computer twice to the repair shop. These people did the same thing I did. They checked with different RAM (Same Code-00), then they changed the PSU (Same Code-00). And then they say its a motherboard problem and they need to mess with ICs else my computer won't turn on. Another person said my motherboard is dead and I should buy a new mobo instead.

I usually just take the PC back because I know that if I leave it off for a few hours, it ends up working fine(Most of the time it turns on with just a few attempts).

May I know what should I do to fix the 00 error so my computer works fine always?

Things I have tried:

Resetting the BIOS. Works for a day and then it goes back to Code-00 and after 4-5 attempts of powering On and Off it works fine.

Leaving the system on for 10 or so minutes and then retrying (It works most of the time this way). Saw this on a youtube comment once since a lot of people seem to be getting this 00 error. The explanation which the user gave was that the processor needs a bit of warmth. (But again sometimes it doesn't work).

Clearing CMOS and Removing the Battery (This worked the first time I faced the 00 Error. It worked for a few months and when Error-00 appeared again, I tried this method but it didn't work)

Keep in mind, when my computer works it works perfectly. I even tried doing the stress test on CPU-Z and it worked fine. Could it be some major problem still?

Specs:

MOBO: Asus Maximus vii hero motherboard

CPU: Intel Core i7 Processor (4790K) LGA-1150

PSU: Corsair VS650 ATX Power Supply (650 watt)

RAM: HyperX Memory. 8GB DDR3 (1866 CL10 240 Pin UDIMM) Memory Module

FAN: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Eco (Intel LGA 1151)

SSD: Samsung SSD 850 Pro

r/pcmasterrace on Reddit: POST Card Error code 00
January 14, 2022 -

When I turn my PC on there is no display.

I bought a PCI POST test card to check for errors and when I boot my PC I get a 00 Error code.

According to the manual it means that "code copying to specific areas is done. Passing control to INT 19h boot loader next."

I'm not the most tech savvy and I have no idea what this means.

Could anyone offer any help

PC specs:

Graphics card: Nvidia Gforce GTX 1060 6GB MOBO: Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H DDR3 Micro ATX LGA1151 Power Supply: PurePower: BQ L8-400W CPU: i5 7600k Ram: ddr3 8bg Cooling fan: Intel E97379-001

The problem started a month ago when I updated my MOBO drivers, which in hindsight was stupid.

I bought a new motherboard after the problem started because I thought the driver update had fried my MOBO, I still have no idea what the problem is.

Old MOBO: gigabyte GA-B150M-D2V DDR3

If you need any more info, feel free to ask. Thank you in advance!

March 7, 2023 -

***UPDATE***

So after flashing to BIOS 805 I stopped getting code 00 and started getting code 0d with red light signifying CPU issue. Given how rare CPU failures are by comparison to CPU failures I RMA'd the motherboard and ordered a new one.

Upon getting the new one I flashed to 805 and then installed all components except the GPU. I ultimately got error 0d with red light on CPU. I flashed back to the original BIOS and got the same error code. I'm finding it really hard to believe that the CPU is the problem but I'd like to get other people's thoughts on this.

====ORIGINAL POST====

So I just bought an ASUS ROG STRIX x670e-e gaming mobo and an 7950X. I built the system and turned it on. Not surprisingly my boot drive from my previous Intel build wasn't recognized so I used a USB to flash a new install of Windows 10 (I tried Windows 11 first but it said the computer lacked the hardware specs necessary for Windows 11 install). For some reason the wifi module was not working so I finished the install, restarted the computer (still not working), so I hit F2 to go into the BIOS. While searching for the module in BIOS all of the sudden my PC shuts off on it's own.

When I restart the computer I get 00 as the code. Yikes. I can't clear it and I'm looking for help after trying several things to fix this.

Things I've tried to fix this:

  1. Unplug all power cables and reseat them.

  2. The PSU has 3 CPU power outputs. I tried powering the two CPU Power inputs using all combinations of the 3 CPU power outputs.

  3. Try 1 stick of RAM in A2 instead of a stick in A2 and B2. (tried both sticks as the A2 single module)

  4. Take off the cooler and inspect the CPU socket for bent pins (I don't see any and no damage to the CPU itself.

  5. Tried BIOS versions 922, 805 and default BIOS.

  6. Removing the GPU and booting.

  7. Tried a new version of the same motherboard

Things I cannot try:

  1. Try another CPU. This is the only AM5 CPU I have.

Components installed on the MOBO:

  1. Ryzen 7950X with DeepCool CPU cooler

  2. ASUS TUF RTX 4090

  3. G.SKILL DDR5 TRIDENT Z5 6000 2x32GB (slotted in A2 & B2)

  4. Samsung 970 EVO 512GB in M.2 Slot 1

  5. GAMEMAX ATX3.0 PSU 1300W

The only component that isn't brand new is the Samsung 970 EVO. That came from a previous build.

Given that the system booted several times without an issue the only thing I could think is an issue was that while I was in the BIOS it got corrupted. Given that the FLBK didn't solve the problem I'm not sure what it could be. It's hard to imagine the CPU, MOBO or PSU just suddenly going bad after working fine the first hour plus that I was trying to work through the initial boot sequences and then windows install. Interested in what else I should try.

Decoding Motherboard Error Code "00": What it Means When There's Power But No POST - SilverPC Blog
October 30, 2025 - For some older or very specific motherboard models, „00” might occasionally be listed in the manual as a „successful boot” or „system halted” code. However, in the vast majority of contemporary scenarios where you have power but no display or further progress, a persistent „00” on the debug LED is *not* a sign of success. 💡 In our collective experience, when a machine powers on but produces no display and sticks at „00,” it overwhelmingly indicates that the system isn’t even reaching the initial stages of POST, or has encountered a critical failure *before* it can properly begin.
