Depends on what you’re doing and what your air setup looks like. For heavy use, it won’t beat an air grinder with a proper air supply. But if you’re running an air grinder off a regular small compressor and not using it for hours at a time, the battery grinder will probably serve you a lot better. Genuine question. What’s so great about the Hercules Die Grinder everyone is getting?

Nice that they’re expanding the 12v line but they really need to refresh all the current tools with brushless motors. More on reddit.com

So I just saw this on YouTube, looking at the my m12 die grinder with a 2.5 ho battery, it’s a lot slimmer. my problem with herc tools is cost of entry. Now I know y’all will say they have the new kit right now, which is true but at the time, I was able to save more money going with Milwaukee over herc. Hear me out. So I got the m12 impact driver and drill deal that got me a a free ratchet , I just got the m12 die grinder deal that came with a 2.5 ho battery, a 4.0 battery with a charger for 175, you can’t beat that. Herc still doesn’t have kits for their 12v line and their 12v line is lacking compared to big red., knowing that herc buys old patents to make their tools, I can’t wait till come out with a tool to justify their line up, as a mechanic, the m12 is better value for money imho, it amazes me that hyper tough came out with something comparable to the m12 gen 1 stubby and yet herc hasn’t. Their 20v “compact” impact is just wishful thinking. I’m not saying herc is bad and I really do like their tools, and I love their battery durability, but as far value per dollar as someone who needs to wrench everyday, I think red has it over blue, and I stood in front of herc tools everyday at my local HF and read reviews and saw videos trying to convince myself to go with herc but with some of the deals red has, it’s been cheaper for me to go with it. I was really hoping HF would’ve made a bigger splash at sema with herc but I’m loving what icon is bringing to the table and I’m salivating for the new G2’s and the new digital torque wrench, one thing that kinda bugs me is that icon is trying to compete with tool trucks and yet because of the herc brand they won’t release icon branded power tools specifically marketed to mechanics and I think they’re missing out on a huge potential, another thing I think HF needs to do is sell individual sockets, wrenches etc. , sorry about my morning rant

March 3, 2025 - A sub-reddit dedicated to Harbor Freight and reviewing their tools. ... Think tariffs will hit this one and why we haven’t seen it. Just yesterday employee told me they cutting hours and raising prices. Can see it all over the store. Hurts their business model. ... Hyper Tough also has one that works decently for about $45 all-in (small battery, grinder and charger included).

Is it good? I’m a fleet technician and every single power tool I own is Milwaukee, in the professional field you do take advantage of their power tools. Whatsoever I don’t ever need to use a cordless die grinder at work because we have air grinders which are miles ahead of cordless grinders. Lately I’ve been getting side jobs that require me to have a damn grinder, but I don’t see the point in spending $220 for a tool that will strictly be used as a mobile mechanic.

Sorry for the text, convince to save myself $180, is this herc as good as they say? I get access to a charger and batteries for hercules from my buddy at work so I do need the tool only.
