What are your thoughts on the hybrid vs original casper mattress?

Hey guys. So I’ve been dealing with upper back pain for 3-4 months, right behind my shoulder blade and when I look down and to the side at times. I believe it’s my mattresses fault.

I’m 190 athletic build, 5’9” Wife is 155 5’7” She side sleeps primarily and back sometimes, I mostly sleep on my back, and side sometimes. We have had a Nectar, and a Novaform, Im not sure how I feel about all foam Vs hybrid.

I have some hypermobility issues and rheumatoid arthritis, and I’m also a powerlifter which is a horrible combo that I choose to ignore.

Both of these would be from Costco

We are shopping for a mattress and not sure if we should go with Select or Hybrid.

King size.

The Select was $800 (in store) and Hybrid was $1000 online so we ordered Hybrid yesterday.

Figured to go with the better one for only $200 extra.

But today the Select are on sale for $640.

Does anyone know if Hybrid is much better than the Select to justify almost $400 difference?

I finally replaced my 2015 Tuft and Needle Kind size and 20+year old box springs. New box springs were Serta available at Costco. The difference is incredible! I love the new mattress even though it has only been out of the box for 2 hours before we slept on it. Very happy with my purchase. I'm a tall 200lb back and side sleeper, wife is a stomach sleeper. We both feel like it's plush and comfortable yet supportive. No more back and shoulder pain from the old sunk in mattress. No more ridge in the middle of the bed from the old broken down box springs.

So I'm a side sleeper with a very firm mattress that has been screwing up my shoulder/upper back for almost a year; I tested out a casper hybrid mattress in store and it felt very soft/plush but still with some support.

(Ive tried several toppers for my firm mattress before including the casper one and sink right through / hate them!)

I know the costco casper hybrid version is different (and some reddit reviews says its firm, which I likely dont want) but Im wondering if anyone knows the actual difference between these 2 models, besides the price...

any advice or knowledge would be much appreciated!

We just tried the Casper Original Hybrid at Macy’s, which I believe is a medium-firm. We really liked it, as it was similar (but a little softer) than our current mattress (Tulo Firm, the older version). We saw that Costco has a the Casper Select Hybrid for close to half the cost. How do these compare? I read that the Select line is made for Costco only and is similar to the original. To anyone who has tried both, did they feel similar to you? My husband and I really liked the Casper Original Hybrid that we tried in Macy’s, but would definitely prefer to pay the Costco price instead if they’re essentially the same mattress ($2100 vs $1100 for a king). My wife and I enjoyed Caspers‘s new line of dream mattresses, but I came across the Casper hybrid select at Costco, which they say is similar to the Dream (or more specifically the mattress that the Dream replaced directly at Casper.l)

Does anyone know if there is any big difference between the Costco Casper Select hybrid and the new Dream?

We are between those and the Novaform Serfina. We like a firmer feel and not to sink into the bed.

Has anyone tried both the 2020 version of the Casper Original AND the Casper Select from Costco? How do they compare in terms of feel?

Why I ask:
My fiance and I went to try the Casper at a local store today and actually loved it. While doing some more shopping though, we found that Costco also had a Casper Queen mattress that was $400~$500 cheaper than what Casper was offering both online and in-store.

Upon reaching out to Casper support to ask what the difference was, they told us that the Casper Select (Costco one) is in fact the older version of the current Original. The main differences are:
Casper Select/Older Original - 4 layers, top layer is breathable open cell foam, 12" height. Zip-off cover
Current Original - 3 layers, top layer has their new 'Airscape' foam for breathability. 11" height. They also removed the zipper on the cover so the top is no longer removable.

Again, I'm wondering if anyone's tried both of these and knows the difference in feel. We like the current original but if we can save $500 for a product that feels basically the exact same, then its a no-brainer. (Sleeping hot isn't an issue since it doesn't get crazy hot where we are)

-edit- To clarify, I havent tried the Costco Casper so dont know if it feels the same or not. Thats the part I'm hoping to get lucky and clarification on.

-edit2- The Costco Select Casper (aka the 2019 Casper Original) arrived two days ago. There was some chemical off-gassing scent, but not as much as others make it seem. It felt extremely soft during the first 24 hours and my body was slipping off everytime I sat on the edge.

48 hours later, it's definitely gotten more firm and is very close to the feel of the 2020 Casper we tried in stores. The edge support is also much better, although still lacking at the extreme edge of the bed (ie the last 2 inches).

I'll give it another 24 hours before making the call, but I'd say that the Costco was definitely the way to go vs the 2020 Original.

• 2019 still has the removable zipper-cover that got removed for the 2020

When I moved back in June, I ordered the Casper Select Hybrid queen online from Costco. Got a good deal on it for $639 including free delivery. I'm 5'7, 180 and it's just me sleeping on it. Primarily a side sleeper that shifts somewhat to stomach through the night. I loved it through the summer, although it did sleep a bit warm. Five months after getting it, I feel like the past couple of weeks, it has not been as comfortable and I toss and turn a bit through the night. I'm wondering if it's because the mattress has broken in or if it's more likely due to the cooler winter temperatures. In summer I have AC set to 70F and now that heat is on, I have it set to 65F. Anyone else notice theirs getting uncomfortable that quick? Thanks Rick

I've narrowed it down to these two mattresses partially because I can't read anymore reviews or go down anymore rabbit holes. I'm driving myself and my husband nuts :) plus, I like Costco's return policy.

Anyways,

I am mainly a stomach/sider sleeper, I'm 5'6 and weigh 129lbs. My husband is 5'10 and 165 and he sleeps mainly on his side. I run kinda hot when I sleep. I think there is currently $100 price difference between these mattresses at the moment, any reason to pick on over the other?

Just purchased a king Casper Select Hybrid from Costco. Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with them? I will post an update later this week once I sleep on it a few times.

Costco added Casper Select 12" Hybrid Medium Mattress. Any advice or information on how it compares to Casper mattress on their web site. Is it the same one as Consumers Report rated number 2 in innerspring mattress.

Let me start by thanking everyone here for so much amazing mattress advice. I read pretty much every post and got some great advice from many, but especially u/the_leviathan711

Background/details: king size bed for 2 side/back sleepers with herniated disks and tons of joint pain. 5'10" 165lbs and 5'3" 156lbs. Do not like the feel of latex, have, in the past, been really happy with an IKEA hybrid that, sadly, broke down too quickly. Tested out lots of mattresses at a local store to figure out what feel we preferred. Loved the Tempur Adapt hybrid but have had a bad experience with the off-gassing, so didn't want one. More concerned about return policy than anything else. Considered DIY and got great suggestions for a build. Worried about the returning/exchanging of individual components, so didn't go that route. Locally, Costco has the best returns, so we looked at what they had available and chose the mattress that most closely resembled a combo of the DIY specs and the Tempur Adapt. The winner was the Casper Hybrid and it has been FABULOUS!

No pain when sleeping on side, wake up without joint stiffness, sleep well. Frankly, it feels like a miracle to not be in pain in the morning and to not toss and turn all night. The edge support is good, very little motion transfer and does not sleep hot (all things I was concerned about). Also, ZERO off-gassing.

I’m looking for a new king mattress and had basically settled on the Costco Casper Select Hybrid mattress. I just went to the Casper store to give them a try just to get a feel, not realizing they’d completely overhauled their entire line including the names of everything.

I accidentally fell in love with the Snow Max but even with their anniversary sale, I’m having a hard time wanting to bite the bullet on a $3500 mattress. Not seeing how I can justify the $2500 difference.

Does any one have any insight on comparison between the two? I did see this site but it only has the regular Snow, not the Snow Max.
