I'm on a similar quest, it's surprising how unpopular green is. You've probably already figured this out, but in addition to forest green you might find search terms such as "fern", "army green", and "moss" to be useful. At $100-200 you are absolutely sacrificing quality, just so you know. This industry is one where it’s true that you have to spend to get serious quality. However, what you want is a cotton cover with a sateen weave to give you the most softness. Stick to long or extra long staple cotton if you can find it. If it’s woven in Italy or Portugal that’s a good sign as they typically do the best. If it’s constructed in a western country (USA, Canada, Italy etc) that’s good too, though some quality brands still use places like the Philippines so don’t let that be a deciding factor. Frette, Sferra, Matouk, St. Geneve, and Schlossberg make some of the best in the world and they offer products at different price points. All of the brands I mentioned can be purchased for 10-15% discounts on websites like FineLinens.com I also know Bloomingdale’s and Linen supply are having 20-25% off deals and most places price match. I personally use Sferra. The more you spend the nicer it will be. Two lower budget brands that I’ve heard offer decent quality are malouf which offers a Supima collection that’s supposed to be soft, or peacock alley. Second on the Costco duvet - or look up comforter instead. Costco is just great in general. Also, check out HomeGoods. I don't know your design preferences, but here is a gorgeous linen/cotton duvet cover for $59. You can put a Costco down and feather duvet in it for $55 (the pillows of the same design are good - I've had them - no prickliness). Here's a white herringbone cotton set , made in Portugal - or blue navy . Here's blue flannel , if that's your thing. Here's a plain polyester comforter. . Or here's a down one by a good brand. Here's a Costco duvet set though I'd go wool later, for more warmth. Down is cheaper for warmth, if you are not allergic. Or here is an all-cotton comforter . Or look at Quince.com - ethically lower costs, and they will guarantee their products. They have a bundle with sheets included , but you'd have to add the duvet insert. I love the one we got at Ikea. It has done very well with going through the wash a few times and has held up well even though we have a dog that shares our bed. I think it was like $35 for a queen but its been awhile so I don't remember 100%
