Google locked me out of my own Gmail account, even though I am 100% sure I have the correct username and password. I even know the correct security questions and answers, which Google previously supported. Google acknowledges that I have all the correct credentials, but they want me to log in using the last IP I used, which is impossible, and a completely unreasonable request. Google is truly a crappy company. I tried to create a new Gmail account, and now they want a phone number just to create one. No way in hell I'm giving Google my real phone number, so I'm in the same situation. The only reason I used Gmail at all is because it's "free" (depending on your definition) and they allow writing 200+ custom filters for incoming email. Otherwise, I would have no interest at all. Obviously, I didn't use it for anything personal (it's Google, after all), but I did find it useful to automatically organize the incoming email. More on reddit.com

I am looking for recommendations of free email services where I can sign up for an email account without providing a phone number, or recovery email address, to create an email account that is not connected to any of my other contact information.
I do NOT need a recovery option for lost password and I do NOT want two factor validation. However, I would like a webmail interface to see my emails and want this to be more than a disposable email service that keeps incoming email for only a few minutes.
It is OK if storage space is limited or if I have to login occassionally to keep the account from being deleted for inactivity.
(mail.com used to fill this bill until they started requiring a phone number to sign up for an account.)
