How to do No Boot troubleshooting | Dell US

Media test failure, but no boot device found.
The most likely cause is a failure of the boot device. It might also be a problem with the cable or motherboard, but they are much less likely. You could try running the built-in diagnostics: power on the laptop > when the Dell logo appears, press F12 a few times until the one-time boot menu appears > select diagnostics and wait until finished > if it says the boot drive is not functioning, well now you know. You might be able to salvage data off the drive if you remove it from the laptop and connect it to another computer (usually with the help of a USB adapter). HTH. More on reddit.com

August 14, 2020 -

My computer suddenly shut down as I was watching a YT video and everytime I restart it this happens:

Checking Media Presence

Boot Failure on Device

I have done a few things found by Google searching (I've done it on its own and all together. Also these are not done in particular order):

  1. Load Optimized Defaults

  2. Change Boot Options to: Windows Boot Manager Onboard NIC (IPV4) Onboard NIC (IPV6)

  3. Enable BIOS Auto-Recovery

  4. Press F12 and run diagnostics

*right now everything's back to default settings

I dont have a lot of tech smarts so please keep everything in layman's terms.

Thanks so much. I am losing my mind here because it suddenly happened.

How to Fix Dell No Bootable Devices Found [2026 Full Guide]
2 weeks ago - An incorrect boot device selection is one of the common culprits behind the "No bootable devices found" error on your Dell computer. When your system attempts to boot, it must locate the device containing the operating system. If the wrong boot device is chosen or prioritized, the system will fail to find the necessary files, resulting in an error message.

r/Dell on Reddit: Unable to boot with a USB boot disk: "Selected boot device failed"
January 23, 2023 -

My main computer finally bit the dust. I've got a Dell T3600 that's ready to be resurrected. The first thing I need to do is boot the computer up so I can put a fresh copy of Windows on it. I made a bootable USB by downloading a Windows 10 ISO from Windows website and used the Recovery Utility on my Chromebook. However when I try to boot the T3600 with the USB I get "Selected boot device failed."

I read on some forums that I should try to turn off "Secure Boot" and make sure it's in Legacy mode. I made sure the Legacy mode is on, but I can't find any "Secure Boot" option on my BIOS settings. My BIOS version is A14. I tried UEFI mode as well, but I had no luck with that either.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I feel like I'm out of options. TIA

How to Troubleshoot No POST or System Startup Issue on a Dell Desktop | Dell US
The desktop motherboard includes a small circular battery that powers the CMOS chip, which stores settings like the date and time, fan speed, and boot sequence. This is essential for the BIOS to load the operating system and manage all input and output components during bootup. If this battery is dead, it can potentially prevent the desktop from powering on.

“Boot Failure on Device” Error | DELL Technologies
August 8, 2023 - I’ve been having this for a while now, so basically, I always get this “Boot Failure on Device” when starting up my PC after a reset. I eventually figured out that it was because of my microphone (Hyper X Quadcast S). And when I unplug the usb from the PC, it boots up fine.
