should I buy dell xps 9720 17 refurbished?
I have the 9700 (basically "same" but i7 10875 and RTX 2060) since 2 years and love it. However, it's on the heavy side and I usually spend full days in one place, not running around for different lectures. So I would prefer a more portable machine for university - I actually have a Mac Air M1 - an entirely different machine - but it's so portable and so much longer battery life so among my machines my first choice for "travels with only lighter tasks". So despite loving my 9700, I would not recommend it (or 9720) for university. Get a lighter machine (XPS 15, XPS 13, Lenovo also have several small nice machines that are also cheaper) and by all means: get a padded bag to keep it safe 😊 More on reddit.com

If this was in the US, this would be a terrible option price wise, but European prices are always higher as it is, so it's not great, but not terrible either. I would still keep looking though. More on reddit.com

February 15, 2024should I buy dell xps 9720 17 refurbished from dell outlet?
I don't know what your use case is, but I bought both the XPS 9720 and the Thinkpad P1 Gen 5. I ended up returning the P1 Gen 5.
Honestly there were quite a few things I preferred about the P1 (Keyboard, lighter, ports) but I kept the XPS because it had much better battery life and runs really quietly for normal use.
It accepts two double sided NVME drives, so you can put in 16gb of storage if you are so inclined (total exaggeration... but who know what the prices will be like in 3 years).
I will say that I never buy a notebook computer without the next day service, so as not to have any problems. I would calculate this into the budget. (last time I got one witout and ended up using it broken for a year, because I didn't want to be without the computer...)

Hello!
I'm debating myself to buy a laptop for university and this laptop checks all the performance categories that I will likely use and will not use But, how future proof is it?
And can you guys tell me all the problems that you have faced with this device since splurging 2400 dollars is not a joke and certainly I cant handle a repair in the middle of the semester
So thoughts guys
Also I'm buying a 17 inch xps 9720 I9 12900 Rtx 3060 16gb ram 1tb Uhd+ with touchscreen
Note: if anyone has purchased dell refurbished outlet devices, kindly tell me long term if problems appeared because I know short time it seems perfect and flawless

XPS 17 is a great pick if you need performance and don’t mind a big laptop. Battery life is around 6-8 hours with normal use, not amazing but decent. The UHD+ screen drains it faster though. I’d suggest looking at eBay certified refurbished. I got a 9710 that way and it’s been flawless for 2 years now. They usually come with Dell warranty too.
