In desperate need of plumbing advice. Shut our water off to install a new bathtub faucet and cannot get the new one to fit. Replacing an older (1997ish installation) of a Delta Linden faucet with another Delta faucet. Bought a different faucet and cartridge/diverter. Everything seems the same size and seems to fit properly until trying to actually place it into the pipe in the wall. Any help is much appreciated since we now have to choice between paying for a plumber and not having water until we figure this out.

I shut the water off to change this cartridge and can’t figure out how to get to this cartridge!! What am I missing?

The ring is probably fused to the rough in body. I have had to cut the ring off of the last 3 that I have had to change out recently. I used my sawzall to make a slice in the ring. But, I finish the cut by holding the blade in my hand and gently cutting. If you damage the rough in valve, you will have to replace it. I t loos like a first gen Delta(stubby) cartridge. Good luck

Use a fernco with a piece of pipe in it and use your channel locks on the pipe to get non slip grip to open that thing up , it's hard to grip that ring it's just slips by tightening that fernco band clam onto it gives you a way better grip
