Hi, I have to set up a printer in my job but I have no idea how to make it work for more than one computer.
The printer is Brother MFC-L2715DW. I can easily connect to it through Wi-Fi on my laptop and PC with wireless adapter. But all other PC's are connected by LAN cables and don't have wireless capabilities.
With my very limited knowledge I thought that connecting printer to router via LAN cable would work. But after looking it up it seems it's a way to make a wired printer have wire-less capabilities (no need in ours).
I think it should be possible to connect printer to my PC via USB-B cable and make it available by sharing (then it would work with only my PC on) but it doesn't work. Maybe the cable is bad (not included with printer, bought separately) or PC/Printer settings.
It thought to ask for advice here before wasting more time.

All of the things you list will work, you just haven't set it up right, but from your description I don't know what you're doing wrong. Things that work: Connecting the printer to the LAN. Just add it all on all PCs Connecting the printer to the wireless network. Same thing. Many printers also have a feature that gives it its own WLAN for printing, this is not what you want, connect it to your existing WLAN. If your WLAN isn't correctly configured then this won't work. The printer needs to be on a network that can be routed to from your PCs. If you just connect a wireless router somewhere to your LAN, then it may be configured as a router with NAT, then this won't work. The wireless router needs to either be the main router, or it needs to be configured as an Access Point only (not a router). Sharing the printer through your PC. This has worked fine since the early 1990, you just need to set it up right.

So long as your wired and wireless PC’s are connected to the same LAN, you just need to go into settings on each PC and add the printer. You can use the Windows search box and type in “add printer”. It should take you to Devices/Printers and Scanners where you can add a device. It will search the network and should find the printer. Click on the new printer and hit add device. That’s all thats needed to print. If you need to the other features like scanning, you will need to download and install the Brother software from their website.
