The best instant approval credit cards in Canada for 2026 | Ratehub.ca
5 days ago - In those cases, a secured or guaranteed credit card can be a better starting point and may help you avoid unnecessary hard credit checks while you work on building or rebuilding your credit. The better your credit score, the more likely you are to be instantly approved for a credit card. A great strategy is to check your own credit score beforehand. Many websites, including Transunion, let you check your credit score for free. It's important to note that checking your own credit score isn’t the same as when banks do it and won’t hurt your score in any way.

I can’t get approved for discover secured. What should I do?
While secured cards are a good start for many people most major banks will decline approval if you have large amounts of unresolved accounts. You didn’t mentione what’s in your credit profile but you need to put aside rebuilding for a moment and focus solely on addressing what’s causing your credit to be 460. Doing so includes some very basic steps. You need to pay/settle any defaulted/charged off accounts, get and stay current on anything you have open, pay down any balances on anything that’s open. Until you do that getting a secured card will be hard, and for the most part, useless. More on reddit.com

Many secured credit cards come with a higher interest rate and lower credit limit than unsecured cards. But you can still make the most of your card. Many credit card issuers offer preapprovals, including Discover, OpenSky and American Express. When shopping for a credit card, start by thinking about why you want one. If you're hoping to build your credit, any card can help, as long as you pay your balance in full and on time each month. Welcome bonuses and rewards are a major reason people apply for an unsecured card. These perks are less common with secured cards, but they do exist.

Good Credit Cards for People With Bad Credit | Discover
June 24, 2025 - While not everyone may qualify for a secured card, credit score requirements are usually less strict for secured cards than unsecured credit cards, which means a less-than-perfect credit score may not stop you from getting approved. Using a secured credit card wisely can help you begin building credit history from the ground up. Generally speaking, a “poor” credit score is a credit score that’s low enough to make lenders consider you a risky borrower. FICO® considers a score from 300-579 to be a poor credit score. A credit score in the “fair” range–580-669–may also be too low to qualify for some types of credit, even though it’s not in the lowest credit range.1

The Discover it approval odds aren’t the same for every applicant. We recommend a 700+ credit score (which means at least good credit) to be eligible for most Discover it credit cards. There are, though, some Discover it credit cards that you may be eligible for if you have a lower credit score. Generally, besides a certain minimum credit score, issuers require applicants to have enough income or assets to pay the bill, in light of the existing debt obligations. But each credit card company analyzes the data a bit differently. Here are the credit scores we recommend for the Discover cards: Discover it Secured Credit Card: Bad credit (below 640)  Discover it Student Cash Back: Limited History Discover it Student Chrome: Limited History Discover it Cash Back: Good (700+) credit Discover it Miles: Good (700+) credit Discover it Chrome: Good (700+) credit NHL Discover it: Good (700+) credit (the NHL Discover it is not currently available on WalletHub and may be out of date) In general, the lower a credit card’s minimum credit score is, the higher your approval odds will be. If you don’t know your credit score, you can check it for free on WalletHub. WalletHub is the only website where credit scores and reports update daily. Finally, keep in mind that the above credit scores are guidelines and they do not guarantee approval. Credit card issuers evaluate a variety of factors beyond your credit score when reviewing your application.
