We’re in the process of digging for our firepit area. When it rains, water pools in the hole and takes 2-3 days to seep through. Should I install a drainage system, or will it be fine once I put river rocks on top?
Hey all, looking to dig a hole and create a sunken fire pit this summer. My question involves drainage.
I plan on digging down about 5 feet in a 20x20 square (ish). Once the snow is gone and the ground has thawed, I’m getting locators in and then mapping the actual spot.
It’ll be a few feet off my deck, plenty far from the house.
So how do I prevent it from filling with water during heavy rainfalls, and during the spring melt?
All I had considered to this point was some river rock or pea gravel in the bottom, a couple inches deep. Anything more than that, and we’ll be swimming lol.
Thanks for any and all help.
