I'd look for a used one on Craigslist or FaceBook Marketplace. Just make sure it is heavy, which means it's solidly built. And that when you pull out the drawers and look closely at the joints, or flip the whole thing on its side and look at the bottom, that there's no particle board and that it has no loose joints and is a solid piece of furniture, then you've got a good deal. You'd be surprised at how good of furniture you can get for $50 or less, and if you buy something good used at a good price, you can probably sell it for the same price a few years later if you decide to upgrade. For under $500 you are not going to get solid high quality furniture. There are loads of old dressers available that were built to last and not all of them are in a dreary style Neo Victorian style as many have classic lines. Amish made! My parents bought me 2 dressers made by Amish craftsmen when I was little. They’ve been with me through my childhood, college, young adult life and now they’re in my kid’s rooms.
