Male ʻuqqāl often grow mustaches, and wear dark Levantine-Turkish traditional dresses, called the shirwal, with white turbans that vary according to the seniority of the ʻuqqāl. Traditionally the Druze women have played an important role both socially and religiously inside the community.

Ever since a few months ago i've been spending almost every hour of my free time talking to this amazing Israeli Druze girl, who's is the smartest, funniest, most ambitious and beautiful person i've ever had the privilige spending time with. I'm from the Netherlands and I'm not very religious, to which she told me even though we'd be great together, she'd have to risk her whole family just to date me. It's just heartbreaking to have her remind me not to get my hopes up cause it could never work, even though all the while we can't get enough of spending time with each other. Apart from either forgetting about such an amazing person (impossible) and her giving up her entire family (impossible), is there nothing I can do to salvage this so we wouldn't have to do either of these things? I'm not religious, but this situation legitimately has me praying for something to save this.

Unless she’s willing to lose her family on dating you, don’t waste your time. Druze families are serious about their excommunication. I know this from personal experience and heartbreak… and I’ve also had to break someone’s heart as a result of it. If you really love her, and unless she loves you, I would let her go.

Yeah good luck, that’s a fight that no one is willing to take. Trust me I’ve tried even with my broken family, there’s culture and tradition that really isn’t worth losing over someone.
