It really depends on what your expectations are. If I were to pick on one thing about these smart telescopes, it’d be the fact that they don’t polar align. They basically point roughly towards the pole, and then they take short exposures and de-rotate them, and stack them for you. They can’t take say a 30+ second exposure, because they’d suffer from field rotation in the live stacking process. For that reason, I consider these more EAA (electronically assisted astronomy). Is it cool for $500? Yeah as long as you don’t have crazy high expectations. From what I’ve seen I think the ZWO Seastar looks like the better product for the money. I’ll finish by saying this; if you get a used star tracker, any old canon dslr and a decent lens, you’ll be able to take much better photos than you’ll be able to with any of these smart telescopes. It’s going to take more effort, but that’s all part of the hobby. If you aren’t yelling at equipment in the cold at midnight, is it even astrophotography? Answer from GreenFlash87 on reddit.com

So if anyone has any experience with this product is it as great as they make it sound when it comes to DSO's because I have my doubts? Any other similar options around the same price or a lil more that might be better and that actually do what this item advertises?

It is an amazing little device. Light weight, portable, low entry costs, easy to get basic results and freedom to make great postprocessing results. Seestar will be competitive. Parents tempted to buy a dept store telescope - this is a great alternative at a low cost. My 8 year old granddaughter ran the camera with my coaching to get witch's broom nebula shots. She couldn't do it herself, but she learned a lot. (But the images you get of course cannot be compared to a dept store telescope.)

Review of Dwarf 2 and Dwarf 3
August 15, 2025 - The Astro function of the Dwarf 2 uses a 24mm aperture telephoto lens giving a 1.8° x 3.2° field in a pleasing landscape format. I should admit here that I really like wide field visual views where astro targets can be seen in context, so this field size ticked that box for me.
