I would not buy a v6. Long-term reliability is a problem with all Dyson products. I would go for a newer v7 HEPA or V8 You'll get better battery life a little bit more power and some actual filtration! Both of those options should run you$200-300 new

A budget interim option would be replacing the battery on your stick. My Dyson battery died after 2 years and my cheap Amazon replacement (~$35) is on year 3. More on reddit.com

I have a v6, v8, and v11. V11 is significantly better than v8 and v6 in my experience. With v6 and v8, when I used them daily I had to replace the battery after 1 year. With v11 it's being 3 years of daily use now and battery is still good (still >30 min runtime in normal mode according to the screen and I only need 10-15 min to vacuum every morning). I attribute this to a combination of battery and suction improvement, which leads to not having to run the battery down to near 0% every time I use the vacuum, that significantly improves battery longevity. I did some price comparison and Dyson battery price is not that much higher than name brand power tool (Dewalt, Milwaukee, Makita, etc) battery price. Don't buy the Amazon battery, you get what you paid for, they are good for maybe a few months. I've gone through a couple of them on the v6. You can't throw them in trash and have to take them to recycling center to dispose. Not really worth the hassle and risk. More on reddit.com
