I am disappointed that the battery on my V8 Animal is already dead after 2.8 years. I use it only as a backup (aka light use). Seems like power tool batteries last much longer under much more heavy use.
In any case, I need to replace the battery. There is the super expensive Dyson replacement and 3rd party Amazon's. Looked at some reviews. Is there any reason no to pick a 3rd party? Is there a known incident of a 3rd party pack to go up in flames? Frankly, this would be the only reason for me not to go with 3rd party.

Well I’ve purchased one from Amazon when the original died in 24 months and 2 weeks where it has been advertised to go up to 4 years. Customer service didn’t help out and wanted to charge the double the price of aftermarket product. I’ve purchased one from Amazon for half the price and it runs for 2 years by now. Additionally single change usage duration increased dramatically due increased mah.
