i recently purchased a phone on ebay and had it shipped by a seller to my country overseas by ebay international shipping now, i purchased it on jun 14 and it arrived to the shipping hub at july 5 which then the seller marked as "delivered - left to individual" he said it was delivered to the shipping hub
then i received an email from ebay themselves stating that the item would be delivered from july 26 - 16 august but it's now the 20th and i haven't received anything worse yet they stated on their page that every order going through EIS should get a tracking number but i didn't receive any
now when i tried to refund my order they closed my case just about instantly and stated that they got tracking info from seller and it should arrive soon but that's a blatant lie because the seller themselves doesn't know where the item is because i've asked him
now i don't even know where i can request a refund at all or get the tracking info im supposed to get with the item thats being shipped any body can help with this? i'd be really grateful
Good afternoon all, I am a buyer with questions. I’ve now had two different packages not arrive after being ordered from the UK.
Google and USPS websites have not been much help, just offered assistance for the other way round (e.g a US seller tracks intl shipping to buyer)
Basically I want to know what physical locations should I call to see if they have the package or if anyone else has successfully solved this issue of buyers international packages being MIA. Two separate scenarios are in progress for me:
Item 1: Ordered 14 July, has a tracking number from UK Pitney Bowes and states it was delivered to my apt on 26 July but is nowhere in sight. Are intl packages held at maybe a local post office? Tracking number just states it was delivered to my locale but eBay says delivered to my apartment, which is why I think maybe wires got crossed a bit during delivery and it’s just sitting somewhere in my local area.
Item 2: Shipped March 24th. Seller user Royal Mail standard intl shipping with no tracking provided. Still working with seller to get their side of the story… is it remotely possible it is at a US processing facility?
Thank you all in advance, I have been able to find nothing on this kind of scenario so any and all help/comments is greatly appreciated, even if it is at my expense

I sent something to canada the first of January via ebay International service. They gave me a ESUS number as the tracking but I can't get any sort of idea where the package is. I dropped it off at the post office and it was scanned into their system but the receipt also had that ESUS numbers.
Any help would be appreciated because I'm getting worried for me and the buyer considering this is a $200 item.
I knew that eBay International Shipping was a joke, but I never realized how horrible the system actually is. I'm not a big eBay user, and usually stick to Canadian listings (with positive results), but there was a really HTF item available from the US for $75 (+$30 shipping) that I decided to take the risk. Big mistake.
Unfortunately, my package (with a delivery range to me of July 23 to Aug 2) has been "in transit" for about 3 weeks to the eBay International Shipping depot in CAROL STREAM IL, and each day I look for an update the status is always "In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late". So I decided to contact some friends and hangers-on 'in the know" at eBay Canada, and from what I can divine, it seems like eBay is paying a cut-rate fee to the USPS and in turn is getting cut-rate service from the USPS.
What looks to be happening is that there is a HUGE shipping container in Illinois (or Kentucky) that the USPS guys slowly fill with packages destined for the eBay International Shipping depot, and when it finally fills up weeks (or months) later, the USP eventually sends it to eBay. It also means the eBay system is essentially FILO (First In, Last Out) since the oldest package in the container will be the last package eBay staff removes and reships to its final destination.
That's why some eBay International Shipping packages seem to process quickly (top of the container) for some, while others take a month to finally be delivered to the eBay depot (bottom of the container).
This is the very first and very last time I use eBay International Shipping, as I literally have no idea when, or even if, this package will arrive and I've pretty well written it off as lost and will attempt a refund after it hits a month in transit to IL, which should be in about 7-8 days.
And that's not even getting in to the other profit-making, such as buyers supposedly paying for USPS service, but eBay using some cut-rate courier like DHL or UPS to actually ship from the US to the destination, which will naturally incur all kinds of spurious charges to make up for the artificially-low contract rates with eBay.
I can just see the skinflint in the boardroom piping up with "Hey, I got a great idea to steal even more money - we can add a big surcharge to put a new shipping label on all International packages. And the best part is, we can advertise USPS, but then make more money by reshipping using cheap couriers who will then overcharge customers."
Hello, I had an item shipped from Europe to the US, and the tracking on the item was from the sellers location to eBay’s international shipping depot. From their depot the tracking never updated with a new number for a US based company and I cannot track the item. I’ve gone to all of my local carrier offices, (USPS, UPS, FedEx) and none of them will tell me if a package is being shipped to my address without a tracking number.
I already contacted the seller a few weeks earlier because the item had said delivered but it wasn’t, and I asked him if it was possible to verify the address he sent it to (I haven’t used eBay much so I was unaware of how the international shipping depot worked) that’s when he told me about how he was required to ship to eBay, then eBay would ship to me.
So I tried to contact eBay lastnight/this morning for a package that wasn’t received and their confirmation email states that they asked the seller to comment on the matter….how the hell is he going to be able to help me? It’s eBay’s fault that I don’t have a tracking number correct?
Is there anything the seller can actually do at this point?
And how the hell do I actually talk to someone at eBay?
Thank you!
I placed my order on February 4th. Seller shipped it out on the 5th. The item got to the Ebay hub in IL pretty fast - it got there on the 7th. The last update on February 12th says "Item arrvied at hub". There have been no further updates since and no additional tracking number. The estimated delivery date was between February 15th - 25th (I am in Canada).I normally avoid sellers who ship using Ebay int'l shipping but in the few times in the past where I have purchased from sellers who use this service, there have been no issues.Has anyone had this happen? If so, did the item eventually show up?I know I can contact the seller and let them know before I file a claim for INR to get a refund but this is really frustrating! I got a good deal on this item and I don't mind if it shows up late. But if the item is indeed "lost" that would be such a shame!
Update: Thanks to all who have replied to this post! Just checked the tracking again and this time it FINALLY updated with a tracking number (today, Feb. 27th). The package has just moved from the hub to the US Carrier, Asendia. Hopefully the package gets to Canada safe and sound!
I have had this happen twice in the last month with two different sellers. Both items have shipped via eBay delivery service. In both cases, the seller shipped the item, and the tracking never updated beyond the first entry ‘tracking number provided.’ The expected delivery dates have come and gone, without the items ever arriving. I’ve given it two or three days past that point before contacting the sellers. Both sellers swear that the items were shipped and should have arrived already. They both are responsive, and both have plenty of positive feedback - I have no reason to think the items weren’t actually shipped. I’ve had other transactions where eBay delivery services was used, and it has never been a problem - the tracking updates as you would expect, and the item arrives, usually well before the expected delivery date.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Both sellers were responsive and shipped replacements. But I am curious what happened here?
Hi everyone. I sold an item and it is being sent to the UK with the international program. The buyer messaged me today and was asking about why it’s taking so long and how the tracking hasn’t updated since July 4th.
Does anybody know what I should do here? I know it’s eBay’s responsibility after it arrives to them but they never actually delivered it?
Thank you for your time.
That looks like it was delivered but it wasn't scanned. Just a guess of course.
You could try opening a USPS search case. Sometimes that helps tracking update.
I did have one that arrived at the hub just fine (so, not the same as your case), but it took exactly 1 week for it to show up as "arrived at our hub", so you'll want to ask the buyer for patience. Open that USPS missing mail search case and hope it updates as delivered. Good luck
"ebay standard..." whats the rest of that say?
ebay international shipping is not ebay standard international delivery. those are 2 different services. ESID has next to no protections for the seller aside from item not received protection as long as it shows delivered to the buyer. if its lost along the way, you're liable. you're also liable for returns, refunds, and payment disputes.
whats the tracking number? does it start with ESUS? did you possibly photograph, write down, or otherwise record the shipping label somewhere? ESID has a USPS tracking number starting with 9 AND it has a second tracking number on the label starting with ESUS.
edit: another comment says it was an ebay envelope. but you also said its international... did ebay international shipping open up standard envelope to its methods of accepted packaging? anyone have some insight here?
Hi everyone. I have a question regarding the package that I have ordered. I placed an order for a gold chain through eBay on the 27th of December and was getting constant updates on where it was until it hit the international shipping hub. My question is, I’m a Canadian, and our largest postage company, Canada Post, just got off of the strike, but they aren’t accepting international packages. So what happens? Is my package just gonna be stuck at the hub, or is it shipped through another company? If anyone experienced anything similar, could they let me know their experience?
I ordered a phone yesterday on eBay from Great Britain to be delivered to Lithuania. Today, eBay says it has all be delivered (within 1 day?). The tracking history per se indicates the item was delivered to Lichfield DO by Royal Mail, but then there is no indicator where I should look for the item later on. I just want to make sure I understand what to do and where to go in these cases. If I need to describe this better, I will in the comments section.
P.S. Pitney Bowes tracking says they don't see the tracking number.
I am a seller on eBay. I have shipped about 10 overseas packages in the last 3 years. They all went through a hub in Illinois, and I never had any problems. Sure, some of the packages took over three weeks but the customer and I could always see the progress. This time the package, bound for Brazil, went to Philadelphia. When it got to the PO in Philadelphia the buyer and I got an email saying that the item was delivered, which the buyer thought meant delivered to her. The third-party shipper picked it up, but I never got an email with the international tracking number. I contacted eBay customer service several times to try to figure out who was shipping the package to Brazil. The agents just kept telling me it must have gotten stolen or lost at the PO and to take it up with USPS. I finally noticed a new number pop up, not on her main order page, but when I went to "labels". I tracked it and saw that it had gone through 3 different shipping companies and was in Brazil in customs. The customer filed a dispute with her card company so she will get the necklace, and I will get nothing. I contacted eBay again to find out why the new tracking number didn't automatically get sent to us both. The customer service agent said that she knew that eBay is trying to expand their shipping. She was going to transfer me to the sales department, but they didn't want to talk to me. They told her to tell me that they never know which international shipper is going to pick it up because it is based on the country it is going to??? This is going to cause HUGE problems, especially if the buyers and sellers don't automatically get the international tracking number. In this instance there were three different carriers involved, USPS, Easy Ship, and Asendia. This sounds like it is a fairly new development in eBay international shipping, and I may turn it off until they get everything ironed out.
Got my package shipped from the GSP centre. Is there a way to get the tracking number for the final delivery instead of the Pitney Bowes Tracking Number?
Hello, I was wondering if anybody got any package going thru the GLENDALE HEIGHTS recently and can tell me how many days it took to be processed over there?
I'm quite pessimistic about it because i used it for the first time in November and my package is still there its been exactly 2 months and its not moving. I'm going create a ticket for it tomorrow and see if I can get a refund and now I'm afraid my second package will get stuck in there too :/
Just out of curiosity, because I haven’t bought items from sellers who have used this service in the past, do they always send you a preemptive notice to pay duty and service fees? I’m in Canada and ordered some items from the US
In one circumstance, I got an email from DHL asking me to pre-pay duties, I declined but apparently didn’t affect the shipping. The item was delivered by Canada Post when I wasn’t home. I didn’t get any notice for duty charges or to pick up the item at the post office. The item was left in my mailbox
Will note that shipping through this program is so slow.. going forward, I’m going to avoid sellers who use it
I have been seeing items listed with free shipping listed to have no tracking number . Are sellers using a different service to get cheaper shipping than usps?
I'm just getting started selling on eBay and have only made 4 sales so far. I'm located in the U.S. and I only offer U.S. shipping currently because I have no idea how international shipping works, and I always use USPS with package pickup at my house. Somebody messaged me asking if shipping an item to the U.K. would be possible -- she seems genuinely interested in the item so I want to figure it out. The item is ~2.5 pounds so I imagine it will be somewhat expensive. Can somebody explain how this works?
Can I still ship with USPS?
Is there a specific service I should pick?
Can I still do a scheduled package pickup at my house?
Sidenote question: should I offer international shipping on all of my listings?
Since eBay launched the new International shipping program, I have roughly 100 International sales with an insanely high 20%-plus order issue rate.
My domestic return rate is roughly 2%, on roughly 20 times the sales volume.
Even though eBay is removing all responsibility from me for these issues, the time suck just isn’t worth it for me anymore. Every item I sell internationally can be sold domestically for less hassle, and no international eBay fees, so the program doesn’t really benefit me much.
Today, a $300 video game arrived in Canada, where it appears eBay’s domestic inspection team cut a 4-inch hole in the video game box with a box cutter while taking off the bubble wrap, and re-packed the mint manual in such an obviously unprofessional way it arrived damaged. Or potentially customs inspected and damaged the item. Or potentially the buyer intentionally damaged the item.
Yesterday, a buyer in Germany won a credit card dispute because his video game item never arrived, and eBay didn’t refund him because he filed his claim after the 30-day return window.
I’ve had more than a dozen other shipments where the item just goes missing in transit, never to be heard from again. This happens so often I almost expect it now.
Some of these buyers take their aggression out on me in messages and/or feedback, which is further time suck, not to mention further difficult due to language barrier.
To eBay’s credit, they don’t point the finger at me for these issues.
The program just appears to be a terrible business model, which can’t last financially as currently constructed, and I don’t see much benefit spending time within terrible business models.
I get what eBay is trying to do, and I get that it’s difficult. The program just needs far, far, far more quality control.
Hello,
I have an international order for a customer in Switzerland. However I want to make sure the tracking is continuously updated all the way to delivery and the buyer has selected USPS first class which to my knowledge doesn’t have tracking once the package leaves the US. I haven’t yet purchased the label because I want to make sure I select the correct label that has continuous tracking if it’s not too much of a price difference. I’ll pay the difference if need be.
It can be USPS, FedEx, UPS etc
The reason for this is because of a bad experience I’m still dealing with in regards to a shipment to Israel gone missing which was also under USPS first class hence why it disappeared after it left Chicago Airport and the buyer filed an INR.
Everything is under EISD. EIS is for some reason not an option for me.
For those of you selling from the US, which shipping service do you rely on for international buyers?
I sell clothing, bags, and shoes, so my options are a bit limited — and I don’t use eBay’s Global Shipping Program. Right now I’m torn between USPS First Class International, USPS Priority, or possibly something else.
What’s worked best for you in terms of cost, reliability, and buyer satisfaction?
So, I have some very small, inexpensive items that fit perfectly in a regular mailing envelope. They are small, skinny books, but don't qualify for media mail. I have seen that I can just mark the order as "shipped" which I have done. However, now when looking back, I see that the orders don't show as delivered, which makes sense.
I am fine taking the chance that a customer may say INR once in a while. With this low cost item, it is well worth the $2.00 being saved by shipping without tracking knowing that once in a while I may have to send a replacement with tracking. I believe in the long run that I will save more than I would lose. My main concern is if and how it could affect my metrics and how eBay looks at it.
If anyone has experience with a similar item, situation or knows of another way to ship items like this with tracking that is cheaper than regular FC mail, I would appreciate your input.
