Yeah, I just saw Sinners there. I write movie reviews and saw over 100 films in theaters in 2024. The IMAX at Premiere, compared to other IMAXes in the country, sucks. It's an old Xenon 2K projector. More and more IMAXes at least have 4k Laser Projection. So when you go see a movie at Premiere Cinemas IMAX, you are seeing a picture that is lower resolution that most theaters in the El Paso area, as many of the Cinemarks are 4K (including Cinemark XD), Alamos are 4K. (AMC El Paso 16 is terrible and has old 2K projectors). And like others have said, the projection is dimmer than it should be. So when you are deciding IMAX or not in El Paso, you have to ask yourself, how badly do I want to see the movie on a screen that is technically bigger than anywhere in EP, and for movies like MI, how badly do I want to see the scenes of that movie in an expanded aspect ratio VERSUS much better picture quality elsewhere. Sinners was my first visit to the Premiere Cinemas IMAX in quite some time. It was a fun experience, but I could tell the PQ sucked. It was soft and even in row F, you get some of the "screen door effect" because the resolution on that giant screen is approximately 2048 x 1080, meaning most people's TVs and phones have a better resolution. Think about that for a second. We go to the movies to see movies in a higher resolution than at home or in our pockets, but our IMAX of all screens is projected in a resolution lower than what most people have at home or in their pockets. I think for me, going forward, not going to run out to see a movie in IMAX in El Paso, unless I really want that expanded ratio and don't care that the picture quality sucks. So I might do that for the upcoming Final Destination movie (Which will be entirely in the IMAX expanded ratio on IMAX screens and not sure I care about PQ for a Final Destination movie), but I'm leaning towards "The Big Show" at Alamo Drafthouse East El Paso for Mission Impossible because that is a large, crisp 4K picture along with Dolby Atmos sound, the only auditorium anywhere in El Paso that has Atmos sound. Hopefully one day they replace their projector with Dual Laser 4K, and then I will see a ton more films at that IMAX. More on reddit.com

I wish there were more AMCs in El Paso so I would go more often if there was one closer!!
