With Google One's 2TB plan, the storage is shared as a single pool across up to 6 accounts in a family group, there’s no option to assign fixed limits per user. Each person’s data remains private, and usage draws from the shared 2TB total. Buy the 2TB Google One plan from your preferred Google account Go to families.google.com and create a family group. Steam Family Sharing has been a thing for 10 years now. Steam Families is a new thing that works differently. Family Sharing required you being logged into every PC where you want your library to be shared with other users. It also made your entire game library inaccessible to people you share with if you or someone else is playing a game from your library. Only one person gets to play your library at a time. Steam Families behaves differently. It's currently only available in the "Steam Families" beta branch for the Steam client. Once you opt in, you will have the option to create a "Steam Family" where you can invite up to 5 of your Steam friends to join as long as they are located in the same country as you are. Once everyone has joined your family, everyone's games gets shared with each other and combines into a larger game library. Even if you are playing one of your own games, anyone else can play any of your games except the one you are currently playing. If multiple people own the same game, then the amount of copies of that game become available for multiple users to play. For example, if 3 people in your family own Portal 2, then any 3 people in the family can all play it simultaneously whether or not all of their accounts own the game. More on reddit.com

I genuinely don't get why people are getting mad at your post. You aren't even trashing anyone's opinion. You literally mentioned in the post that old family share was not just intended for families. It was so nice since my friends abroad could share old delisted games. And yeah its not like that system hurts indie devs like people say, the option to chose whether to opt in for share availability is upto the devs, so that argument has no validity. I'm personally more disappointed in the 1 year gap for changing families and stuff rather than the new system tbh. I think its way too long. I wish it was like 1-3 months at max if they wanted to keep it. At the end of the day, it really nice one one side but a disappointment on the other. I hope that they'll reduce the cooldown soon, or that they would keep both systems available. That way actual families can use the new share while people sharing to friends can use the old.
