r/personalfinance on Reddit: Fisher Investments - worth it for retired people?
August 9, 2023 -
Yes, they charge a fee (1.25% of invested amount) annually. Which obviously isn't awesome, even assuming they can beat the general market which isn't likely. But, for that same fee, you also have access to planning people who help with things like estate planning, trusts, long-term care policies, planning when to sell different assets like real estate, when to take Social Security, planning around when a spouse should retire, etc.
I'm interested in opinions, especially from anyone who's retired early and used them.

If they will draft your estate documents and also file your taxes, sure why not. If not, look at creative planning or similar. I’ve seen commercials from both. Creative planning is comparable in pricing but offers more imho.
If Fisher Investments fees are ZERO (while every other aspect and quality is remains same as now) would you try them? - Bogleheads.org
I know, there is a lot of negative sentiment about Fisher investments and other managed investments which charge fees based upon AUM. I am looking to have thoughts/opinions strictly based upon their performance track records. I am currently investing in 3 fund portfolio and I am not too unhappy. More on bogleheads.org
Be Very Careful Before Using Fisher Investments
My first question was “How did your fund perform last year?” He said 21% gain after fees. I pointed out that S&P ETFs ($SPY) grew at about 25% underperforming the S&P 500 is not necessarily a crisis, and comparing everything in the world to the S&P 500 is not a fantastic long-term strategy. a properly diversified portfolio will have elements that are disappointing at the moment. Everyone on reddit has been neglecting international stocks lately, because they've underperformed VOO over the last 5-10 years. it's a constant chant of "Just buy VOO, just buy VOO, just buy VOO". but in recent months international stocks are destroying US stocks, often by very large margins. when things change, they can change very quickly and it's often too late to adjust. Is Fisher Investments worth the fee?
This is a matter of opinion. I personally do not think it’s worth it, but many of Fisher’s clients are more than happy to pay the fees, which are slightly higher than the industry average, to gain access to its Investment Policy Committee and other financial planning services.

Calculating 401(k) Plan Fees
Traditional IRAs have the same tax treatment as traditional 401(k)s, but they are established by individuals rather than by employers. IRAs remain popular among investors for good reason: They are usually easy to set up, and many have no setup or annual fees.
