well not deep down but still. i actually think fiyero is underrated as a character but people downplaying his one truly shitty moment isn’t going to help him.
the engagement was pushed on him unknowingly but he’d been dating glinda for five years before that. yeah, yeah people don’t own other people and glinda certainly isn’t a flawless victim in this situation.
but this narrative that it was a mutually agreed upon PR relationship and that glinda shouldn’t be upset by him leading her on is crazy. it obviously wasn’t just for the crowds, they had a moment in private where he went along with everything. yknow what would have been valid and respectable? saying right there, “you just pressured me into an marriage i didn’t agree to. i’m not in love with you. we should break up.” but he said sure and walked down the aisle!
and i don’t think anything implied that he was being forced to be there. glinda is not nessa, and fiyero isn’t boq. what i will say is that glinda had no real right to be mad at elphaba considering their circumstances and current relationship. i think some people are defending fiyero to defend elphaba but they don’t have the same obligation and respect due to glinda in that situation.

Fiyero was in love with Glinda
A scene between Glinda and Fiyero was cut from For Good, according to screenwriter Dana Fox
Why Elphaba and Fiyero make sense (basically an essay cause i have no life)
Book vs. adaptations (this Fiyero is great, but where’s the Fiyero I know and love?)
A lot of people believe Fiyero never loved Glinda. That he was just attracted to her and just went with the flow.
But I believe Fiyero fell in love with Galinda the night she stood up for Elphaba at Ozdust.
Fiyero is attracted to bravery and conviction, so it’s easy to imagine he fell in love with Galinda because he witnessed what was, at that point in his life, an incredible act of courage on Galinda’s part.
But then as he saw Glinda serve the Wizard, he fell out of love with her. Because he realized that moment of courage was all it was, a moment.
"I don’t think there’s anything that I wish we hadn’t cut because everything we cut, I felt we cut for exactly the right reasons. There are some beautiful things I’m sure will be in the deleted scenes. Perhaps, there is a scene that I don’t know if it will be included. There was a scene between Fiyero and Glinda that we cut in which they kissed; it was romantic and beautiful, but a little too passionate. Seeing that made it too hard to watch him make the choice he makes to be with Elphaba and made it too hard to make it OK that Elphaba ran off with him. It was too real that he and Glinda were actually feeling something together.
It was like a feeling that he really did love her, which he does care about Glinda a lot, don’t get me wrong. But he likes her in a different way. But this scene was too romantic, so it was like, “Oh, we can’t know that because then our brains will explode when he doesn’t choose her in the end. And then we’ll hate Elphaba, Glinda and Fiyero.” So, I think it was a good cut because it was too adorable that you simply couldn’t handle it. "
