Looking for some high quality recommendations for an alternative guest room bed that saves space and where guests will ACTUALLY want to sleep. It needs to be able to sleep 2 adults. The bed is going into my office space and I'd like something that can be easily tucked away into a small daybed, sofabed, or possibly even a low profile Murphy bed cabinet (nothing too tall because it's going in front of a window). When the bed is in use, there is room to expand into a king size bed but it would be taking up majority of the room aside from my desk.
I have a loose budget of around $1k, but will definitely pay more for extra comfort so that my guests are happy to stay! I've been considering a daybed situation that expands into a king and buying a separate king size mattress topper. Just looking for more recommendations because many products I'm finding online just don't look comfortable!

Hear me out, but I got a fancy pants inflatable double height king mattress a few years ago and it's legit as comfortable as any mattress I've ever owned. I was skeptical because I grew up with the crappy dorm-style inflatable mattresses where you wake up on the floor and I am a terrible princess-and-the-pea sleeper with a gnarly form of degenerative arthritis. I bit the bullet when I needed something I could take up to our yurt in the mountains so I'd be able to sleep comfortably if I was going to stay a couple days. It's great. It's nice and tall, can inflate to a good firmness (I love a firm mattress) and can withstand enthusiastic...activity. If I had it set up in my home, I'd probably get an extra-long bed-skirt just for aesthetics, but even with regular sheets, blankets, and duvet, it looks nice enough to where I wouldn't feel embarrassed at all to have my guests see it. EDIT: The brand I bought was Englander, which comes with a 10 year non-prorated warranty. They're made in the USA by a company that has been around since 1894.

I'd love to also find similar day bed type solution. We have queen guest bed now that takes over whole room. We do use room once in blue moon if one of us is sick so I'd like it to be "ready to sleep" one all the time but able to accommodate two guests when necessary. There are some interesting Murphy bed options but hard to spend that kind of money when you don't know quality.
