Any furniture stores that are on the cheaper side (think Bob’s discount furniture), that would deliver to an old town second story walk up? Not looking to assemble.
Moving to Chi and wanted to know if there are any stores like the above in Chi or nearby suburbs. TIA!
I recently moved to Chicago. I'm in a 1-bedroom apartment near Addison and Broadway. I don't have a car, so I get around by walking or by taking public transit.
I am seeking advice on furnishing my apartment. I don't need much (probably just a mattress, a couch, a couple of chairs, and a dining table) and my tastes are simple.
In the past, I've bought furniture from the types of places that have words like "Discount" or "Warehouse" in their name, as well as from stores like K-Mart (some larger K-Marts sell some fairly basic furniture).
Basically, I'm looking for unpretentious, functional, no-frills furniture, with delivery. As rough ballpark dollar figures, I am hoping to stay under the following prices: at most $400 for a couch, at most $250 for a mattress, at most $100 for a dining room table, and at most $60 for chairs. But those are just rough estimates off the top of my head, and there is some wiggle room.
Hey Chicagoans! Where do you buy furniture in your beautiful city? Anything except Crate and Barrel? Are there any other places I can walk in and check the stuff offline, like good old-school way? C&B prices work for me; Design Within Reach — hell no :) I moved here about three years ago and finally admitted that it’s probably time to make my rental apartment feel less rental (I have enough IKEA; it doesn’t feel like long-term home, so it’s not in the equation).
