I'm trying to avoid memory foam in my mattress at all costs as I've had it before in a hybrid mattress and to late did I realize why I was feeling so uncomfortable after a few months. I didn't even know what I had was a hybrid until I started looking into a new mattress as a replacement for it, and saw on the product description page that it included memory foam in addition to the innersprings, but it didn't state it was a hybrid, just a pillowtop. I already didn't like memory foam as I hate that sinking into feeling, but this experience has made me hyper vigilant of it or anything that may actually be memory foam but is labeled differently.
So my question is, is memory foam a very specific kind of thing and is required to always be labeled as such, or can it be labeled as other things like just gel foam and the customer doesn't know they're getting memory foam? I'm not referring to the newer gel memory foam, but just general gel foam, be it straight gel foam or support gel foam or whatever other kinds of foam there are. Any insight into this is extremely appreciated.
