So this is a new product from the GK guys listed on KBDfans (I mean KPrepublic) with no real reviews yet, bought it soon after it came out since I was in the market for a programmable wireless numpad, of which there are very few. The fact that it's hotswap makes it all the more sweet (oh and RGB, which is nice to have though not really something I care too much about). Gallery : https://imgur.com/a/5Ug3pRQ
First off, GK products get a lot of hate on their software but to be frank, as long as it can remap, it can remap. The main draw back is the inability to use momentary function calls, though you can switch profiles using FN + 1/2/3. I knew this going in and this was perfectly fine for my use case. never mind, apparently they have that in their software now
Listed for 88 bucks barebones, i got the version with the domikey SAs and Gateron clears cause I wanted to try both of those out. This is cheaper than other programmable wireless mechanical numpads you can find, none of which will be hotswap. The presentation and packaging was definitively a notch above what I expected, it comes with a very nice velvet carrying case. The stems come factory lubed.
My main concern was the ability of the device to hold on to the programmable layers in wireless mode, I have a gk84 (also wireless and hotswap) whose coded layers only hold in wired mode from that I can tell (given that it's a standard 75% layout, I don't mind too much). [EDIT: nevermind, it's just that I didn't know how to use it properly, admittedly the software is initially pretty confusing]. I can report that using their new software (slightly improved from their old versions), the programmable layers thankfully hold in wireless mode.
So far so good, a small gripe is that it doesn't have a dedicated power switch, but you hold FN + Tab to turn it on and off. This is not a big deal but would have been nice to have a dedicated power button somewhere on the unit.
In short, for the value, this is the only numpad in town with all these features, and I can recommend it. The metal case is high quality metal, gives off that 5 degree vibe but not quite. Let me know if you have any other questions, this community has been a great source of info for me. Here's the gallery URL again: https://imgur.com/a/5Ug3pRQ
Finally a RGB, hotswappable, bluetooth numpad was released the gk21s, the major downside is the price at $88. This was something I was looking to get but idk if I can pull the trigger for that price right now, hopefully it goes down some. Or maybe i'll do some drunk shopping and just do it.
But thought I would share this cause i'm sure people have been looking for something like this.
