Office 365 just "Renewed at $240/year and I can get what I want for $150 from Microsoft direct. From what I've seen, they make it hard to switch and tell you "you might lose all your email" which seems like scare tactics/BS. Can anyone tell me how I get away from GoDaddy for good and keep my Office 365 subscription?

There are two ways to “defederate” your 365 tenant from GoDaddy and move it to a direct Microsoft relationship. Ask GoDaddy support to do it for you. Takes a few days, but almost zero effort on your part Use the powershell method described here which is faster, but requires some technical expertise on your part Both methods use a similar process… but in the first method, GoDaddy runs the commands on your behalf while in the second you run them yourself.

It's actually very easy to migrate your data from one Office 365 tenant to another. It can be done fairly cheap too through third-party tools, or even free depending on how much data you're looking at migration. I'm a member of the community just like you and not affiliated with Microsoft. I'd be happy to guide you through the process though. Here's the gist:
- If you're the only user, you can make an Outlook PST, Otherwise, consider using a thirdparty tool (I recommend MigrationWiz BitTitan)
- Once you have the data moved from one tenant to another, you'll need to defederate the domain from GoDaddy, This is as simple as a few PowerShell commands.
- Lastly, add the domain to your new Office 365 tenant and add it as the primary alias for all users.

And no you will not be able to use O365 P or F with your GoDaddy domain/email once GoDaddy is cancelled

Your clients may suffer extreme joy by having full access to all the features and control panels of Microsoft, probably should warn them. Godaddy has gotten better but their original access was so limited it was like a basic email but 'business and from Microsoft'. I've some grief dealing with them over the years for what clients are looking to do and what Godaddy was offering.
