Theres an app called activity launcher on play store, download it give permissions. There will be a process called android setup, try clicking on everything under it, something will pop open the backup procedure that you see during initial setup of device. I was in the same boat as you as I had to factory reset a few times for troubleshooting purposes. Here's what you need to do, factory reset (can't restore without it) -> select copy data from old phone when prompted after reset -> select phone not available (or something like that) -> you'll be prompted to pick a backup to restore from. Hope this helps.
