I've been a google fi user for about a year and have noticed that the data speed after the max data limit is way too slow and nearly unusable. I have a flexible plan. Aaccording to google, I should have unlimited data to use after reaching $60, but in reality, the data is so slow, I cannot even use basic google maps. I think google is definitely playing with words. I feel like even the slow data should be at least 10 mbps. Come on google. You are a big company with lots of money. Don't skimp on little things like this.
My parents (ex-iPhone users, Verizon) recently bought Pixels and switched to my Fi plan. The only issue is that for some reason, since moving to Fi with Pixels, they're using a lot more data than they did on Verizon with their iPhones. Since we're on the flex plan this is a bit of a problem.
Does anyone have any guidance to help my technologically challenged parents avoid using too much data?
I knew that plans have a cap before you get throttled which is a normal practice, but the plans "fine print" states that if I use beyond 50GB I will be throttled *and* I will be charged $10 for every additional GB of data. Has anyone experienced this? Is it a misprint or outdated information?
EDIT: Thank you for the replies, apologies if I came off as a weird irate customer, I was just confused about the terminology! I don't think I'll come close to the 50GB but I like to know everything I can before making a purchase. Gonna be subscribing tonight. Thanks again!
