r/Hunting on Reddit: Duck Vs Goose: which tastes better?
October 10, 2019 -
I was watching FLAIR on YouTube today and they had a taste test between duck and goose, and flair swore that GOOSE tastes better than DUCK.
This really threw me, Ive always heard and believed that goose is typically gross because its leaner and tougher. Although I have eaten goose before aside from just jerky, usually roasted in a crockpot. Duck on the other hand I've found to be fattier and has better flavor because of it.
I'm interested to know what other hunters think, is Flair crazy? Am I crazy? Have I been missing out on some God-teir meat? Let me know what you think.

Flair is an idiot dont watch that bullshit. Goose is tougher. Taste isn't necessarily different though. Both are great if grilled rare to med-rare

a lot of people over cook duck and goose, and just don't know what to do with it. When their meal comes out bad, then it must be bad meat. In reality it's bad cooking most of the time. Same deal with that store bought thanksgiving turkey that is so dry you need two glasses of water to eat it. It's not the turkey, it's the cook. It's just a personal preference thing. I'd give goose a very slight edge.

You may find that wild duck tast a bit like liver. It's a dark meat. You either like it or you don't. My wife will eat Canada Goose ut she wont go near duck, she finds them to gamey. I agree with Ian, golden eye has much to be desired.
