I found a massive like 12” hansgrohe shower head at a thrift store. It was missing the threaded portion which screwed into the extruding pipe for the shower. I sent Hansgrohe an email looking for a part number so I could buy a replacement. They requested my contact info / address, I complied (against my better judgement) and never heard a response back. 1 week later I received a brand new in the box shower head the same as my thrift store find. Free. It was like a $600 shower head. This was 2 years ago. 10/10 company in my experience. Answer from bigfuckingjoe on reddit.com

It's 2024 and reddit is filled with people cursing these German brands (old comments). At the same time, there are some (again old) comments saying that it's good quality and worth the painful service and delay in ordering parts during faults.

Why are these expensive brands still popular and my contractor is recommending them in 2024 if it's a pain? Will Delta / moen get me the same experince, quality & long lasting product and quality service? I'm looking for a double function thermostatic shower valve. I have a shortlisted product from Grohe but the negative reviews really scare me.

Just really depends on if you have a decent enough supply house that can get and or stock parts. I can go anywhere and get delta parts but sometimes it can take a couple weeks to get replacement parts or trim for a hansgrohe. They are nice but if in ten years if you want to change the trim or get a cartridge it may take a bit to get. At the end of the day it’s your choice because you’re the one who’s gotta live with it.

Lol, had a customer go 2 weeks without a kitchen sink waiting for parts for a Grohe faucet. I'd go with Delta or Moen over either Hansgrohe or Grohe any day.
