I keep losing my damn flanged top nut for my angle grinder. Wondering if I can just order a huge pack of standard 5/8 flanged hex nuts like in the picture and use them.

On Amazon, you can buy a whole pack of grinder nuts for cheap.

You’d lose the centering cone recess needed for cutoff wheels. And the taller top of it would contact your work with a thicker wheel. I’d say spend the extra few dollars for the real thing.

Cant get the nut off the Bauer 7in 15 amp corded angle grinder. Tried the wrench. Tried wrench+cheater bar. Bent the wrench. This is the second time this happened. Last time bought another one and now this happened to this one. Any suggestions? If I cant remove it soon will have to get a third one.. Anyone know of any aftermarket nuts that are easy to remove or come with a special impact socket?

Are you turning it the correct direction?

Do you have a welder? You could tack a nut to the top of the grinder but and use an impact or get a pair of locking grips and grip them on the outside of the nut and try that (works sometimes) I've never used the bauer ones but the only time I've ever seen these get stuck on like that is improper use, they should go on hand tight and come off hand tight, albeit probably with a glove on especially when using wire wheels. So just make sure you're not over torquing or doing anything "funky" with the grinder.
