I've had two Hemnes nightstands for probably 7 or 8 years and the drawers on these things have driven me crazy for a while. They have 9.25" of usable depth, but only come out 4.25". It's super annoying to have 5" of space that's hard to get anything out of. I'm curious if there's something I can do to the existing slides to make them come out full length? Or does anyone know of a replacement that will work? Appreciate any advice! Thanks!

Remove the drawer. Look inside the nightstand and observe the little track thingies that the drawer slides on. Notice how it’s set back a bit from the front. You need to move those thingies so they are closer to the front. There may already be screw holes just for this purpose, as I found when I put together the Hemnes 3 drawer chest just a few days ago.

Wood screws are pointy for a reason. It can screw into the particle board itself. The bolt has a hole to screw into. So yeah, you're seeing it right!

That screw is new to me. I haven't come across anything - Hemnes or otherwise - that requires that extra screw at the end of the rail.

We bought two of these, and both of them have issues with the top drawer being extremely difficult to open/close past 2 inches. I've switched out the slides with the other drawers that work perfectly, it appears to be a drawer issue. It isn't a screw catching, and it doesn't appear to be a warped slide (I've switched all slides and drawers in every combination to try to isolate the issue).
Based on reviews it looks like this is a trend. Any ideas on a fix? I ordered soft-close slides but there is not enough of a gap for them. We live hours away from an Ikea so returning it is not a great option.

Please try getting longer rails at least 11 1/2 inches long. It might solve the problem with the drawers only pulling out half way. I was looking at the Hemnes Glass door cabinet with 3 drawers and was wondering if I ask for the rails to those drawers and maybe they will be long enough

I know this is a 2-year old thread, but I had the same problem with the HEMNES night stand and just fixed the issue with the sticky top drawers. The problem is the plastic nail that attaches the side panel of the drawer to the back panel. This lower plastic nail head sticks out just enough to catch the drawer slide. I used a sander to sand down a few millimeters of the lower nail head on both sides of the drawer and it fixed the problem.

Can anyone recommend some alternative drawer sliders that work with the Hemnes 3 drawer night stand? I've tried a few from amazon with no luck. 11 or 12" sliders.. most soft close don't fit as they are too narrow for the drawer when you try to install it after putting the rails on.

I never had Hemnes line, but I dealt with Kallax and their lousy inserts. These are like toys comparing to the kitchen cabinet systems that IKEA has. I looked up the assembly instruction, yet, it’s just like Kallax. You can’t pull the drawer out farther because the rail is designed that way. You can’t do anything about it. What you can do is to find similar drawer rails with similar thickness and hopefully will work well for you. Home Depot or Lowe’s if you are in U.S.

Is there some kind of plastic in the rails preventing it? Perhaps tip over hazard? Can you just use like pliers to break it.
