I'm looking to purchase a standing desk but after looking at reviews on amazon for one, it seems that I should be wary of standing desks that are electric as it can malfunction. I noticed that Ikea has a turn handle standing desk called the Trotten. Has anyone used it before and how did you like it?

i think you shouldn't be worried about electric part malfunctioning. If you can, buy from a brand with good warranty/customer support. Manual crank takes more time to change desk height. You might need to micro-adjust every time you change the desk height. Reliability shouldn't be a factor in considering between manual crank and electric control.
