Compared to the 14" M1 MBP and my iPhone 13 Pro, the colors just don't seem as vivid and the PPI doesn't seem as sharp - anyone else feel the same? Surprising that MBP screen just feels better.

Others have said this, but the 11 inch has the same boring backlit LCD panel we have seen for years and years. You’re comparing it to an OLED screen on the iPhone 13, and apples brand new mini-LED display which is found on the Pro Display XDR, M1 iPad Pro 12.9, and the new MacBook Pro 14 and 16. Essentially, you’re comparing old screen technology to new screen technology.

I was able to get it just two days before her birthday so there was some degree of relief on my end. . The first iPad Pro (2015) was this size at 12.9 inches.
