I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention this yet...
J.Crew changed their return policy from 60 days to 30 days on April 5. Anything that shipped before then will still have the 60 day return window, but anything after that is down to 30 days.
I don’t think they sent out an email or anything that mentioned the change; I just happened to notice it on a recent order packing slip/receipt and asked CS about it.
Caveat emptor!
I placed an order on 5/23 and paid for expedited shipping, which went out 5/24. I received my order on 5/28.
I returned some items from the order and dropped off the shipment on 6/17, well within the 30 day window. I paid $7.95 for the return label.
Today, I received an email that my refund is in the form of a gift card because it was not received or processed within the 30 day time period. Are you kidding me?
Apparently the 30 day window starts when the items ship (not received) AS WELL AS the time it takes THEM to receive and process the return, which took 3 f*cking weeks. Are you kidding me?
So considering I received my package on 5/28, by this logic I would have had to return my package 5/26, 2 days before I even received it. This is a straight up SCAM. I'm livid.
Is this new? Because I've bought and returned from JCrew many times and this was never an issue. Wondering if anyone can comment on this. I'm shocked to not see any other mentions.
I recently bought a pair of shorts from J Crew (retail store), only to find that they stretched out after 30 minutes of wear. However, they were on sale. I looked at my receipt and it says:
"J.Crew gladly accepts returns of unworn, unwashed, undamaged or defective merchandise purchased in our retail stores for full refund or exchange within 30 days of original purchase. Requests for refund or exchange of merchandise purchased by cash or check must be accompanied by the original receipt. Refunds will be made in the form of the original payment. Requests to exchange merchandise received as a gift must be accompanied by a gift receipt."
When I checked their site, however, this line is given: "Monogrammed, personalized or final sale items cannot be returned or exchanged."
So which is it? Has anyone had luck returning sale items bought in the retail store back to the retail store? It's within the 30 days and everything.
Slightly urgent, so thanks for any responses!
