How does the Jabra Elite 7 Active compare to the Jabra Elite 85t?
The older Jabra Elite 85t can now frequently be found on sale for around the same price as the Jabra Elite 7 Active. While the Elite 85t has great ANC, it doesn’t have the same durability or battery life of the newer model.
Who should buy the Jabra Elite 7 Active?
Workout enthusiasts will appreciate the secure fit and waterproof design. However, pretty much anyone seeking true wireless earbuds should consider this — it’s an all-around performer with few notable drawbacks.
Do the Jabra Elite 7 Active support Apple spatial audio?
No. These earbuds aren’t compatible with Apple’s virtual spatial audio feature.
I've had the Jabra Elite 7 Active for a year now, and I wanted to share my review.
Design: They are smaller than most earbuds and I love that they don't have a stem. One reason why I chose these is because I wanted to listen to music and make phone calls while skiing with a POC Auric helmet. They get a bit uncomfortable after 2-3 hours but I'm still quite happy. I also really like the tactile buttons.
Fit: Medium ear tips work great for me, good isolation, good fit (during intense workouts) and they don’t feel uncomfortable even for long periods. Sometimes I forget I have them on.
Mic: I saw a lot of people complaining about mic quality on this sub, it's not the best mic ever on an earbud, but I have no issues having phone calls while music is blasting in the gym. People used to complain earlier about the quality on Discord calls, haven't had that happen lately.
Connectivity: Although I’ve seen reports of laptops/PCs not connecting or having a lot of issues and Jabra stating they only support mobile devices, mine work great with iPhone 13 Pro, 13” Macbook Pro (M1) and 14” MacBook Pro. Connecting with a 10 year old HP Envy laptop with Windows 11 sometimes causes issues so I have to re-connect. Seamless connection and switching between 2 devices. Only caveat is that multipoint only supports 2 devices.
Sound: These are the most expensive buds I’ve ever bought and they sound like it. Audiophiles could find issues to nitpick but to me they sound really good. Saw a lot of complaints here about sound delay. Used to notice a bit of a delay on some apps prior to the last software update a couple months ago, no noticeable delay since then. Not good for gaming though, I tried playing CSGO once and there was too much delay.
ANC: this is my first experience with ANC so I didn’t really know what to expect, but it’s better than whatever I was expecting. It effectively mutes a vacuum cleaner (Samsung Simple 1400) and voices around the office.
Battery life: It’s good. The indicators on the case and earbuds are quite easy to understand. I’ve only had the battery die twice.
Overall, I am very happy with them. I can’t believe I almost skipped them due to complaints in this sub.
I purchased the Jarba Elite 7 Pro wireless earbuds a year ago after reading a review on wirecutter and overall, I had a mixed experience with them. On the positive side, the sound quality was excellent. The earbuds delivered clear and crisp audio with deep bass, making my music and podcasts a joy to listen to. The noise-canceling feature worked effectively, blocking out most ambient noises and immersing me in my content.
Another aspect I appreciated was the fit of the earbuds. They were comfortable in my ears and stayed securely in place, even during physical activities or when moving around. The multi-connection feature was also quite handy, allowing me to seamlessly switch between my phone, laptop, and other devices without any hassle.
However, there was a significant issue that impacted my overall satisfaction with the product. I have a relatively high voice, and during phone calls, it seemed that no one could hear me properly. This was disappointing as clear and reliable call quality is a critical aspect of any wireless earbuds, especially when on-the-go or in noisy environments.
Moreover, I experienced a frustrating incident where I misplaced the earbuds, and the "Find My" feature proved to be utterly useless. The last location shown was my office, which was a week before I actually lost them. In comparison to other brands like Skull Candy Tile or Apple AirPods, their location technology fell short, and it was nearly impossible to trace them once misplaced.
Despite the positive aspects of the Jarba Elite 7 Pro, the issues with call quality and the unreliable "Find My" feature leave me hesitant to purchase Jarba earbuds again in the future. If these aspects are crucial to your usage, I would recommend considering other options on the market with more robust call capabilities and better location technology.
