Please for the love of all that is good in this world do not spend money on True Religion, or any other "high fashion" brand of denim. You want quality cotton and construction. Something that has not been "washed" or treated 100 times before it reaches the store. Poke around this forum for a while (these are pure denim addicts) and do some research. Try an online shop like Self-Edge . Ask questions. But do not buy the high-priced crap on the racks at Nordstrom. I'm begging you. Also, Levi's are awesome, but if you want the stuff made of better quality you'll have to seek our their higher-end models. Also check out APC's denim. Most of it's unisex. I made the mistake a long time ago buying brands like True Religion only to realize that I wasted so much money. As far as denim being BIFL, it all depends on how hard you wear it and how often you wash it. Washing your jeans like any other piece of clothing is one of the biggest mistakes. If you're looking for high quality jeans, and are willing to splurge here are my suggestions (I work as a fitter at a jean boutique). My personal favorite, Hudson Jeans. Holy shit, if I could afford a wardrobe of these jeans I would buy 20 pairs. I was a little turned off by the flaps on the back because I thought they were a little tacky (reminded me of the Arizona brand from JC Pennys), but my god, I call them my butt jeans for a reason. And the washes they offer are very sophisticated but trendy. They have stretch, most are mid-low rise. Downside, they are around $198 but I have seen them on HauteLook quite a bit for around $100! 7 for all man kind. Very stretchy. Most are mid to high rise. People love these, I wouldn't recommend for a super curvy girl but all around jeans. The only problem is they can run a little short (My inseam is about a 35 in boot cut/flare, and a 33/34" in skinny.) I can't wear any boot cuts (which is mostly their style) of 7's because they are too short. Joe's Jeans. Probably the most comfortable as far as denim fabric, and some styles come very, very long. Similar to 7's but the denim is thinner and softer. If you had a rubbing problem then you might want to try these on first and see. Rock Revival. A favorite for people who looooooove trendy jeans. I'm not a fan because I'm more of a classic style wash, and their washes tend to be very faded. They do offer cute details, such as rhinestone buttons (relatively tasteful looking) and stitching. If you are looking for a low cut wast, you will love these. Silver Jeans. Probably the top selling brand at our store. Cut very womanly, in the thighs, but slim in the waist, so if you've ever had that tight in the thigh, but loose in the waist problem, these are for you. Mostly boot cut as they cater to a curvier shape, you said you have no hips, but you might find you like these, they also come in lengths and are less expensive around $99. Other stuff: Always wash your jeans inside out, cool water, hang dry. Sounds crazy but it will really preserve your jeans. The heat ruins the spandex in the jeans (which all high end jeans have stretch). Buy them TIGHT! Cannot tell you how many women tell me they buy jeans and have them stretch out. It's not really the quality, but the size. People forget your body heats up the denim throughout the day and they can stretch to a half a size larger. If your jeans feel tight in the dressing room, they fit, as they will only get bigger. All Most high end jeans come in one length, called designer length. This is usually around a 33" inseam on average. You said you had long legs so you might benefit from this. In perspective I am a size 4 and try American Eagle's "Long" jeans and they are too short.
