Hey! K4v2 owner here. I went for the aluminum housing which unfortunately is only offered with the RGB version. I say it's unfortunate because it does make the keyboard feel and look sturdier. Also, you have to be really sure you like the layout since it can be difficult to get used to. After several months of use, I constantly have to look down to find either the arrow keys and/or the 1U 0. (I'm fine with it so far) It does let you use the keyboard in wired mode, but in my experience the latency difference is not that much. I read somewhere in this sub that the "k" boards don't have the highest polling rates available, but It's been pretty serviceable for me so far (not a big gamer) As for other wireless 96% keyboards with hot swap I don't know of any :/ There is a 96% layout board which is wireless, the Vortex Tab 90 but it has.no backlight and is not hotswap. I think in price it's pretty comparable to the k4. There are other "1800" layout (which I feel is the superior layout since it gives you the compact look of the 96% but retains a slight separation of the numpad, arrow keys and alphanumeric keys) boards that are hotswap but not wireless like the Akko 3098 (not all versions are hotswap though, and they have no backlight but you can mod them pretty easily to incorporate leds). There's also the Drop Shift board which is 1800 layout with hotswap and RGB, but is on the expensive side. All in all the k4v2 is a great option and the price is pretty good. Hope this helps! Keychron K4 V2 Polling Rate?
Nope. Use my K1v4 for gaming in wired mode and have never noticed anything. Although Im certainly not a top tier CSGO player or anything, so not sure how experienced I am in the field. I did have a Corsair K68 that I used before my K1, but didn’t notice any difference whatsoever. More on reddit.com

r/Keychron on Reddit: Is the Keychron K4 any good?
August 7, 2021 -

Been looking for a good replacement for my cheap blue switch mechanical keyboard since some keys are wearing out already. Mind you my budget is around 100 dollars. Ive been eyeing on keychron keyboards since word of mouth says they are good.

The Keychron K4 brown switch hot swappable white led particularly caught my eye since I wanted a keyboard with a numpad and the K4 has it while being compact so I dig the design. I really dont think rgb goes well for keychron keyboards so the white is good enough, and its a bonus that its hot swappable.

Is there anything I should know about this keyboard? Based on YT reviews, they say its a solid keyboard, any pros and cons? Maybe recommendation for a similar keyboard around the same price and layout? Also, does it support wires mode via USB C? I like the wireless option but I need the lowest latency since I frequently game but not much and not competitively.

Really good keyboard for the price. Pros: 96%, sturdy, win & Mac configs, wireless or wired config and hot swappable. Cons: you will most certainly want to swap at least the switches. The ABS keycaps suck and they’re hard to find decent replacements for (Keychron pls double shot pbt ASAP) and the polling rates are slow so if you’re into competitive FPS or rhythm games you may consider a faster polling rate keyboard (1000hz+). If however you’re looking for a pretty much out of the box solution with future customizability across multiple pc’s or even multiple platforms. It’s absolutely amazing.

1 week ago - In our review of the Keychron Q13 Max, the 1800 Alice layout mechanical keyboard scored about 83 hours in our battery life testing — more than enough for a full work week or two, but you're going to be charging at least once a month. The same is true for the Keychron K4 HE, which clocked around 100 hours of consistent use.

Keychron K4 v2 - Open for Business
March 22, 2022 - However, on the other hand, this is a great little mechanical keyboard built with good quality, at a reasonable price, of a compact size and yet offering a full keypad; with great wireless performance under both Windows 10/11 and GNU/Linux. And once you got it working under GNU/Linux, it works, as in workhorse. With all its flaws and drawbacks, some of them significant, the Keychron K4 V2 keyboard is a great keyboard and an answer to many a typists’ needs (Keychron, $79 as tested)
