Peel & stick tiles are horrible. Do not waste your money on them. They'll start pulling up within a year or less. If you're desperate to cover the old tile, go with a sheet of vinyl flooring and cut it to size. Or go the fancy route with something like LVP tiles. But stay away from peel & stick. Peel and stick tiles are a wonderful low cost option but they aren’t not easily removable. In fact you need to use primer before installing. If you really want to change the floor and it’s a rental. Go get laminate or vinyl plank. It’s not going to be cheap but there are options out there. You could even get floating tile as well. Honestly your most cost effective option is is just get some runners or larger area rugs. More on reddit.com

December 29, 2021 - Peel and stick tiles don't like to stay stuck to flooring and with walls you have gravity going against you. I suppose you could use a vinyl adhesive tto get them to stay long term BUT I wouldn't want to be the one to return that wall back to it's original state! ... I would look for a painting technique instead of putting those tiles on my wall. ... With the moisture in a bathroom, they will probably fall off. I have used a light coat of multi-purpose adhesive on a floor with them with some success, but I doubt it would work on a wall.

Answer (1 of 2): It depends. Peel and stick were used quite a bit before laminate and luxury vinyl were available. I used many peel and sticks in my rentals about 20 years ago. The nice, thick ones held up fine, and still look good today. The thinner ones would hold up about 5–7 years.

Looking for something to cover some vinyl that’s in rough shape as a semi temporary solution before work can be done to replace the floor. Not looking to spend a ton but need it to last over the holidays.
The achim brand from Lowe’s has terrible reviews but is the lowest cost option, anyone have any other suggestions for aesthetic purposes only?

Don't. Buy sheet flooring and stick it down with carpet tape if you have to. Mine looked like shit a month later. Corners popped loose, tripping and breaking off or pulling the tile loose. Gunk collected in the seams and looked nasty. I would live on luan or particle board before I used self stick tiles again.
