These duvets are heavier and will keep you feeling warm at night. On the other hand, if you feel hot at night, we suggest a cool or light warm duvet.

r/malelivingspace on Reddit: Ikea duvets for the man that doesn't want to sweat when he sleeps
January 19, 2015 -

I'm a lady. I admit that. I like to be warm but my husband overheats under the heavy down duvet that I chose. I'm going to get a new one, but I don't know how heavy to get that'll be good for the winter, but keep him from sweating and throwing off the blankets.

Currently we have MYSA RÖNN duvet, warmth rating 6 (the warmest). It seems that they have changed their system from numbers to "Cooler, Warmer, and Extra Warm".

If you have an Ikea Duvet (down or synthetic), which one do you have and how do you like it? Do you get too hot?

IKEA down quilts are 85% feathers and 15% down--is that warm/good/okay? - General Education Discussion Board - The Well-Trained Mind Community
I would like to buy my kids down comforters. IKEA's quilts are much, much less expensive, but they are also primarily feathers, with just 15% down. Is that still warm? Good? Okay? Or should I spend more on a blanket with a much higher percentage of real down? More on forums.welltrainedmind.com

Which duvet weight do I want?
There are plenty of All Season weight duvets that are warm enough for those temps! You will have to look at the specs though...what one company calls All Season may be warmer or cooler than another. Down is a very insulating material, so even if it sounds fairly light, it may still be very warm. Just a small amount of down can create a lot of warmth! The higher the loft, the lighter the duvet will be. Higher loft down is more insulating, and therefore, less of it is needed to achieve the desired warmth level. How warm a duvet will be depends on the loft of the down and the fill weight (how much down is inside). You can make a very warm duvet with any loft of down...but if it's a lower loft, you'll just need more down (a higher fill weight). So no, you don't need over 600 fill power. If you go with 600 loft, you'll just need to ensure there's enough fill for the warmth level you're looking for. For 62-65 degrees, you'll want about 35 oz of 600 loft down in a queen size duvet. Or 30 oz of 700 loft down. Loft is the measure of down's insulating properties - not species. You can definitely opt for duck down if you want to. Duck and goose down of the same loft are equally insulating! More on reddit.com

Best IKEA Down Comforters in 2025 - The Sleep Judge
September 16, 2025 - While it’s labeled as “extra warm”, this duvet is also quite breathable as the down/feather filling will absorb any moisture, preventing you from overheating throughout the night. Many reviewers have praised this product for being warm enough to not require any additional blankets, which is hard to find in a standard comforter (particularly if you live in a colder climate).

October 21, 2020 - As mentioned previously as well, these fibers are great at maintaining the volume and insulation ability of a duvet. The comforter is also sold along with a cotton bag. This bag can be used to easily pack and store the STRANDMOLKE when it isn’t being used. This is a small detail which makes this comforter greatly convenient as opposed to others. ... This is another light-warm option from IKEA which is great for maintaining a nice and neutral temperature throughout the night as you sleep.

Looking for a winter only duvet for when my bedroom is 62-65 degrees overnight. I am seeing so many all season duvets which sounds not warm enough. Do I only want both heavy + over 600 fill power?

You are correct, an all season would likely not be warm enough. 600+ fill power, winter weight, ALL Goose down is what you want. I would personally stay away from Amazon, I saw somewhere that goose down is being mixed with feathers or duck down or worse, from used duvets.

Long story short; I've been using Bed-in-a-Bag Sets for so long and I haven't been a huge fan of the quality.

Really wanted to get some new bedding and do an overhaul. Literally have been researching all day for a nice duvet insert or comforter, but I'm honestly not sure what to settle on.

I definitely want DAT FLUFF, like a cloud. I have a Queen sized bed and I'm a pretty hot sleeper. I usually have my room super cold, and my fan running even during the Winter because I'm a psychopath.

I've kinda narrowed things down to the Utopia Comforter Duvet Insert on Amazon, and some others I've spotted on Ikea, but I'm really not sure what to settle on and would love some help to decide on something good.

I desperately need a new duvet and I was looking at ordering one from IKEA because the price is right and I generally like the quality of their products.

I was specifically looking at the STJÄRNBRÄCKA light warm duvet, but the reviews are mixed so I wanted to get some more input.

Would you recommend something else? A different model, material, etc?

I've had my last duvet for a decade so I have no point of reference and live a state away from the nearest store. Any input is appreciated!!

r/Bedding on Reddit: Help! Summer duvet: IKEA vs silk?
April 11, 2025 -

I'm looking into summer bedding for our home. I got cotton percale sheet set, cotton duvet cover, and now need a duvet insert. I want natural materials (no synthetic) and am torn between A) IKEA Fjallarnika in light warm (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/fjaellarnika-duvet-insert-light-warm-50457474/) vs B) a silk option (https://a.co/d/20cpliD ---OR--- https://www.mommesilk.com/products/copy-of-washable-cotton-covered-silk-comforter).

Does anyone have experience to share? In the hottest months here (hot & humid) everything will be thrown off, so I wouldn't mind if it had a bit of versatility, i.e., spring/summer/fall.

More info: One child sleeps hot, one does not; they share a room. For winter (gets very cold here) son has the Fjallarnika duvet insert in warm and throws it off most nights. Daughter has the Fjallbracka in warm bc it was too hot for son. Fjallarnika has 90% feather/10% down so I thought getting it in light warm for summer would be a cooler option than the light warm Fjallbracka which has 75% down/25% feather.

IKEA is 3 hrs away so going to see in person is basically already making the choice. Would like to get them this weekend so I can be ready to change the bedding as the weather warms up! Thanks

r/Bedding on Reddit: Duvet rabbit hole, help! Florida weather, need fluffy but not too warm natural materials to keep cool in summer but warm in "winter"
October 14, 2024 -
  • Would like fluffy duvet, natural materials, don't like that limp duvet look. I need at least 92x96" oversized queen, or a king that isn't all crinkly looking inside of it.

  • Florida, so it gets very hot/humid in the summer, which is 9 months of the year. "Winter" is coming soon, so they say ...

  • AC at 70-71° at night, w a floor fan blasting at me. I have to hide under the covers haha.

  • Cat runs the house so she's on the bed sometimes, in case a random claw snag would affect the bedding. And fur.

  • Husband won't even use a top sheet, seriously! I'm the one that needs to have the fluffy duvet look and slight warmth. I know only my cat and I will use any warmth or weight. So yes, I get all the covers since he doesn't want them!

  • I've bought and returned 3 down or feather duvet inserts by now. Either the fit was weird—limp duvet by choosing queen; clumping from another one that the boxes were just bad construction obviously, or way too big when I got a king that was too oversized, or too crinkly sounding.) I thought I wanted down/feather summer weight, but the sizing or clumping bothers me. Or I've picked the wrong ones. Maybe the construction of the boxes is where it's at. I'm still learning.

  • At this point, I'd consider wool or silk if needed. Idk if they'll look fluffy.

  • Have a queen DIY in progress latex bed, so keeping things natural and allergy free in the bedroom is a huge deal for both of our asthma and allergies. The cat is enough in that area, but she's staying since she owns us and we're just her minions.

  • I have recently purchased pretty Anthropologie cotton sateen sheets and duvet cover, which seems to be larger that typical duvet inserts so typical queen won't work as well.

  • Am considering a quilt from West Elm that's pretty, to layer w duvet in winter, and w empty duvet in summer maybe. It's pretty, and It should hide the cat hair on my white and green scalloped border duvet cover.

  • So I know, form follows Function. What's better, silk, wool or down feather? Any recs?

  • No poly or microfiber. Just natural type materials as much as possible. We're on a budget and would like to keep this under $200 as I still need to finish the DIY latex layers for mattress and get a mattress cover, and better pillows.

Any help would be hugely appreciated! Thanks in advance!
