Liquid detected but no liquid
Liquid detection alert on iPhone - Apple Community
Anyone else get a ‘Liquid Detected’ warning even when the phone wasn’t exposed to water?
Liquid has been detected in lightning port - didn’t see until morning

Been having this issue for the past week. It did have liquid like a few months ago but that dried out. Now I can’t even charge it most of the times but there’s those few times where it does allow me to it
So earlier today I plugged in my iPhone 16 Pro Max and suddenly got this warning: “Liquid Detected — Disconnect cable from charger and iPhone. Unplug charger and allow all connectors to dry. Charging now may damage your device.”
The thing is — I never dropped it in water, never got it splashed, and it’s been in a dry and clean environment all day. The cable and adapter are the same ones I use regularly.
This is kind of confusing and honestly a bit worrying. Has anyone else experienced this before? Could humidity or a slightly sweaty pocket trigger this?
Also curious if this could be a false positive or if it’s worth bringing to an Apple service center. Attaching a screenshot of the warning for reference.
Thanks in advance!
Hi guys, I put my iPhone 11 on charge when I went to sleep last night. I woke up this morning to an uncharged phone displaying the message “liquid has been detected in the lightning connector. Disconnect to allow the connector to dry. Charging now may damage your iPhone.” I unplugged it of course and I tested it to see if it would charge and it appears to be charging fine. I am just concerned because obviously I didn’t see the message last night and I didn’t unplug it.
Am I okay to charge it as normal now if it is able to charge or should I leave it? Is there a possibility that I have damaged my phone?
I went to sleep about 6 hours ago and I unplugged the charger from the phone about 15 minutes ago.
Thanks in advance!
