All snark related to the Little Sleepies social media groups goes here.
Maybe an unpopular opinion…. But in addition to wishing there was a separate group for sneaks (that didn’t include insane stashes or weird husband texts) I also wish so I could not see so many post about loss… still birth…kids with cancer. I feel TERRIBLE don’t get me wrong …. But don’t want my newsfeed to be full of that. It’s sad and I don’t know these people and don’t need it in my brain / heart.
The cross over between LS addicts and people who pop out Irish twins is… interesting? Not sure exactly what it says but definitely something.
I discovered LS about 9 months ago, I really do love the clothes and linens. They're soft and do last longer than cotton, and obviously they have some cute prints. But it wasn't until I got on the LSVIP Facebook page and started paying attention to the drops that I realized that the business operations and fan base are...not ideal. Highly anticipated drops, or even random cute ones, selling out in minutes. BST resellers hiking up prices because the know people will pay them. Weak excuses from the company as to why this happens and why they have a terrible checkout system. And yet people always defend this with "it's always been like this" or "Jeez they're just pajamas". It's BECAUSE they're just pajamas that I'm questioning all of it. So much hype and poor planning from a very popular company, it's bizarre to me at this point. Again, I do love the products themselves, it just sucks that this is how they do things and people are perfectly fine accepting the chaos when it doesn't have to be that way.
I’ve been buying LS for over 2 years now and idk wtf has been going on the last 6-9 months. The fanbase has lost their minds. It never used to be like this idk if they hired a new marketing team or what. That VIP page on Facebook is full of crazies and the BST market is equally insane. I almost see it as a bubble that is going to pop eventually. I still buy prints I like when I can but find the overall fanbase increasingly cringe. And that’s coming from someone who has easily spent over $1000 of pajamas for my daughter/gifts.
The old lularoe girlies have moved onto LS for their kids
Like all of you, I've been disgusted with LS recently. The significant decline in quality over the past two years, coupled with the increase of crusty moms exploiting their poor babies on the VIP page, has made me want to never shop with them again. And that saddens me, because I really really liked LS. I kept thinking... usually a decline in quality means you lose customers, but these thirsty women are frothing at the mouth for LS. The shame is nonexistent, the over consumption is leading to the point of bragging about credit card debt. And it seems like LS sales are increasing, even though quality is declining. And then the PR boxes - especially the recent ones with the very cheap looking hats and mugs - confirmed that the VIP page is encouraging this. This is weird. What's going on?
I decided to do a little research into the company itself. I was surprised to see that LS hired a new CEO in May 2023, who previously was the CCO at Allbirds, a shoe company. (Note that Maradith is still in an executive role, but her title is Founder & Executive Chairwoman). A CCO's role is to drive profitability, and that's what this guy did at Allbirds: during his time there, reviews of Allbirds shoes on Reddit talked about a huge decline in quality, comparing past Allbirds shoes to current ones, loyal fans not sure what happened to their beloved brand. All while there were news articles written about Allbirds' "winning" marketing strategy that focused specifically on loyalty marketing. Allbirds was apparently known for its huge upswing in creating buzz & engagement on social media pages about its shoes, and creating a marketing program that continually incentivized their fanbase for spreading a positive word about Allbirds. This program transformed to making these loyal fans brand ambassadors, including having affiliate deals for posting the Allbirds brand on social media platforms.
Loyalty marketing tactics are powerful. In fact, some research suggests that the relationship between the customer & company is more influential than the customer's satisfaction of the product itself. Companies that know how to create those para-relationships with customers retain the majority of those customers no matter what. If companies want to maximize profitability, they'll do this while decreasing the quality, knowing that the satisfaction of the product isn't the most influential factor. Will they lose some customers? Absolutely. But they'll retain their biggest group, who they've built a relationship, and who spend a lot. I bet we'll see more and more VIP PR packages, incentive programs, etc., that are relatively inexpensive for LS to send out yet ensure that they're loyal fanbase keeps spending thousands and thousands of dollars.
TLDR; my theory is that LS is employing a profit-maximizing loyalty marketing strategy, led by their new CEO, that includes reducing quality of products while incentivizing loyal/engaged customers for shopping. The relationship they're building with their fanbase is the biggest factor in getting those people to spend money.
Hi, this page keeps coming up on my feed as something I would be interested in (???). I have no idea what the little sleepies lore is or why there is so much snark. But these posts with the old ladies in kids pajamas kills me every night when I doom scroll rocking my kiddo while he sleeps.
Can someone explain like I’m 5 years old what little sleepies is
This is a trial thread for Little Sleepies and other bamboo clothing group snark. We'd love your feedback on whether giving these groups a separate thread from IRL/Online snark is something you'd like to see again next week.
