Can small Bluetooth speakers actually get loud?
Yes, relative to their size. Models like the JBL Clip 5 reach ~87–88 dB — not enough for parties, but surprisingly powerful for personal use.
How many watts do I need for a party speaker?
Are AC-powered speakers still considered “Bluetooth speakers”?
Yes. They use Bluetooth for wireless playback, even though they don’t run on batteries. Models like the JBL PartyBox Ultimate are AC-only but still fall into the Bluetooth category.
I'm looking for a good Bluetooth speaker for house parties with 50-150 people in attendance. I previously purchased the JVC Trailgator but ended up returning it as it became muffled with a crowd inside. I was thinking a JBL PB 710 or two PB 310s paired. Would these be loud enough? Any other suggestions? I would just get an actual PA system but I have housemates who will be using it and need something easy to operate. Looking to spend between $400-$600 ideally.
