So. I never have known if there are set frequencies at certain hz or if itโs just a general area for these frequencies we call lows, mids and highs. Iโve always though lows were 100 hz and below, mids 100- 500 hz and anything above that highs. Is this right? Or is it not that general. Is it more situationally dependent on the track? Or can you use a more general approach for figuring out how to affect these areas?

You can generalize tonal crossover points, but the more effective approach is to consider these things on a song-by-song basis depending on the musical context -- specifically, the key that it's in. For example; Say you have a really simple 2x chord song in the key of E minor. The two chords are Em and Am. For E, the lowest fundamental pitch is 41.2 Hz, and the first harmonic (or the next E pitch one octave higher) is double that -- 82.4 Hz. The second harmonic is 164.8 Hz. For A, the fundamental is 55 Hz, the first harmonic is 110 Hz, and the second harmonic is 220 Hz. In practice, where you set the crossover depends on the context. Are you EQing or split-band processing the bass or another instrument? And why? What are you trying to accomplish? What is the musical context? These questions need answered first. Assuming you've answered those questions, just think about both the notes and the corresponding frequencies that are happening. For example, if the fundamental range of the bass is strong (41.2 to 55 Hz, or 55 Hz and below in this song if A is the highest note), but it's a pure tone that gets lost on smaller speakers, I may want to process the first and maybe the 2nd harmonic range. My lowest fundamental crossover would be set roughly halfway between the highest fundamental (55 Hz) and the lowest first harmonic (82.4 Hz), so maybe around 69 Hz so that it's not interfering musically. All of that being said, this is a necessary disclaimer; always use your ears. If I didn't say that, someone else will jump in with that line, and it's true. The best case scenario is that your musical knowledge, technical knowledge, and ears are all coordinating with one another to make the best sounding decisions when it comes to this stuff.
