GATERON Low Profile Keyboard Switches Series, Jade Pro Chocolate Banana Grey Heron Switches Compatible for Low Profile Gaming Keyboard
GATERON KS-33 Low Profile Silent 2.0 Keyboard Switches, Linear Tactile 3 Pin SMD LED Factory Pre-lubed for MX Mechanical Keyboard (Red Linear, 110)
I'm a noob in "better quality" keyboards, never even had a mechanical before, let alone a Hall Effect one. I'm a casual gamer, and Wooting's rapid trigger appeals to me. I also like the attitude and vibe of the Wooting team - watched a couple of their live streams. I'm contemplating buying a 60HE or the new 80HE (since I'm also coding, thus arrow and edit keys come handy).
Problem is, I personally don't fancy the look and feel of the standard height switches and keycaps. I would prefer low profile switches and keycaps. If this is blasphemy in this sub, I apologize :)
I'm aware that it's possible to put low profile keycaps on standard height switches, but then the keycaps "float" and have a visible gap underneath, and the travel distance of the switch is still the same. I'm after "true" low profile switches with shorter travel distance, but with Hall Effect sensors, so they could be used for Rapid Trigger.
Does something like that even exist?
If so, would it be possible to put such low profile HE switches on a 60HE+ module, and use Wooting's software to set rapid trigger actuation points according to the shorter travel distance?
Thanks in advance for giving advice to a novice.
Are there any low profile switches that are MX compatible?
I also looked into this some time ago, and I found this desktority page which explains that mx low profile is not 100% compatible with "classic" mx, it's the same 14 x 14 footprint, but the height is different so you could have problems with the plate, and the travel of the stem could also be a problem only some keycaps may fit without hitting the bottom in the wrong way:

Are there any low profile switches that are MX compatible? I need something that fit's into bastardkb's pcb, that is still low profile. I'm planning on building a dactyl mini, that won't fit a box sized switch. Need something that is low profile to actually fit it into the housing, with an MX profile to match the pcb.
Is the Cherry MX Low Profile really MX? Photos on the internetz are not conclusive.

The GTMX switches use the standard MX footprint, the other 'MX Stem' low profile switches have their own specific footprints and are not compatible even amongst themselves (ie cherry low profile, choc v2, gateron low profile, etc.).
The GTMX switches are compatible with some keycaps, but not all. caps with longer side skirts like SA and MT3 will slap the switch plate when fully depressed. Personally I really like the Tactile GTMX Browns - they are more along the lines of a mid to heavy tactile than a classic brown switch, they do require that you lube the bottom of the tactile leaf otherwise they are extremely loud (nearly as loud as the clicky switches!). the linear switches are okay, but not an amazing linear switch.
